Dissapointments

Any of you have dissapointing shoots? I mean the night after a stressful day at work and you cant get a good group, your timing is just off and what not? I had one of those the other day. I broke 3 arrows, 2 hit the metal support for my target and the tips are starting to crack. And i robin hooded another one causing it to break. I hate breaking my expensive arrows. I also couldnt get a good group for the life of me.Sodiscourging as the season gets close. I'll be back out there tonight to"re-group", i just hope im not the only one who cant shoot now and then.

If not for the ruined arrows the robin hood is a brite spot :D. Never had one myself so that would be cool....once.
Better luck today.

Ya i have had days like that. If i was shooting good the day before i just walk back to the house and wait an hour or so and go back out, or just wait to tommarow.

I think we all have bad days from time to time. The key is just getting back up on the horse after falling off. Focus on your form and I am sure your groups will tighten up once again.

Everybody has bad days.

If they say they don't then they're lying. Even pros have bad days.

-In response to the tips cracking. That was me typing ina hurry at work. I should have said the ends where my nocks are. I assume the energy reverbated throught the shaft causing a severe vibration at the nock, which caused a slight split in the arrow. I Shot the arrows tonight to see if it affected it. They have a little wobble, but they flew decent. I wont use them for hunting, but they are fine to practice.

Importantly, i think since i was stressed and my mind was else where, i didnt have the same nocking point on my face. I shot tonight and had 5 in groups at 45 yrds. So im back.

I remember last fall, I was taking a few practice shots, before heading out for the afternoon's hunt. I was so mentally out of it, that I used the WRONG PIN for the first two arrows, and they both went skiding across the dirt under the target. Then I woke up and realized I was using the wrong pin, and I proceeded to put two arrows right into the head of the deer target. Needless to say, I was furious and bewildered ..."WTH is wrong with me?"

I went inside, got a swig of water, switched arrows (TOTALLY EXACT, except for the fletching colors)

And I shot 5 in a dessert plate sized grouping.

That was good enough for me. Drilled a nice doe that night.

The only bad day I ever had with a bow in my hand was when a cable broke at 3/4 draw on an old Bear Polar LTD that I had many years ago. Oh yeah, I've had days that I couldn't group as well as other days but I never let it get to me. As far as groups go, It's always the first arrow that counts anyway. When you're in a hunting situation you're probably not going to shoot a group since the hunt will be almost over after the first shot.......lol. I usually shoot I arrow each at 4 different targets and it gets me out of the pressure of trying to group all the time. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

If my arrows were slightly split at the nock end (and some are) you wouldn't catch me using them at all. I've heard too many horror stories, some with pics, regarding carbons blowing up and injuring people. If I have a crack in the shaft, it gets retired. The last thing I need is an injured bow hand a couple weeks before the season starts. Just my $.02
