fawn is in transition to laying down,,,,,,,,,,,,pic was taken at night, thats an owl........Look at the left wing, see how its curved and short and stalky, hawks are more elongated and pointy, by the color of it looks to be a barred owl.

Ever been close to an owl at night when they swoop in? It's actually creepy how quiet they are, dead silent, like watching a movie with the sound muted. Thats a dead give away that it's an owl in the picture, when you look at that picture you can't hear a thing, creepy huh?

Definitely an owl. As Bob stated, hawks aren't out at night. Plus the back of the head does look to be wider than a hawk's. I was going to say Barred as well.

The fawn definitely looks like she fell.

Maybe I'm seeing this picture wrong but I think its a Teradactle(sp),and the fawn ducked as it swooped down to pic him up,missing of course and hitting the salt block, knocking it out cold.Dosnt anyone else see it
Awesome looking pics-----I also vote for owl,and the fawn in the process of laying down for a nap

Hawks don't have "furry legs". That's an owl. Looks like a Barred Owl to me.

Owls don't have hawk-looking heads/faces.
where are you seeing a hawk face??? just curious.

i'll about bet it's and owl.
