Single Pin Setup
at what yardage do most single pin user's, set their bows up at ?
Thanks |
RE: Single Pin Setup
I set mine up for 25-30 yards. I don't shoot over 30 yards. And I just aim low for the closer shots.

RE: Single Pin Setup
I have a new Switchback at 70# and have mine set at 20 yds. and adjust for more or less which is not very much. I don't feel real comfortable over 30 with anything, but that is just me, not the bow.

RE: Single Pin Setup
25 is the norm. The arrows don't usually drop before 25yds.

RE: Single Pin Setup

RE: Single Pin Setup

Mine is set at 20 yards...

RE: Single Pin Setup
When I shot one pin I set it for 25 yards. I went to 3 pins last year at 20, 30 and 40 and I really like that set up better.
|
RE: Single Pin Setup
24 to 26 yards is typically what I see suggested. When I do go with a single pin it is typically in this range.

RE: Single Pin Setup

RE: Single Pin Setup
i dont shoot a single pin. I just need to know which pin is set fro which yardage I am not good at compensation.
|
RE: Single Pin Setup
1 pin at 26 yards and shoot alot to get used to compensating for different yardages. The most important thing is knowing how far your shot is when you have a deer in your sights--if you don't know the yardage it doesn't matter what your pin is set for--you won't make the shot(JUDGING YARDAGE IS CRUCIAL)

RE: Single Pin Setup
My single pin is on a slider. With the slide all the way down, it is about an inch high at 20 and an inch low at 30. I pretty much just hold dead on out to 30. I have marks for 40 and 50 yards. If a deer presents me with an acceptable shot at 40 yards, I probably have enough time to move it up a little. If I don't have time, I won't shoot. It's my first year with a single pin so with more practice I will probably just compensate for longer yardages.

RE: Single Pin Setup
Does everyone find that any pin closer than 20-25 is useless?
|
RE: Single Pin Setup
On todays newer, faster bows, yes. My last two bows have shot pretty flat out to 25 yards.
My first compound shot a blistering 206 fps so I had a 15 yard pin. I could also consistantly hit the bullseye at 60 yards. That thing arced but was soooo forgiving. |
RE: Single Pin Setup
My bow is kinda funny! I set out exactly 37 paces every year, anything within that i can still put that pin right on, unless its riduculously close, anything farther i rest the pin on the top of the back bone.

RE: Single Pin Setup
20 yards.
|
RE: Single Pin Setup
My pin is set at 20 yards.
At 30 yards I aim half way up the body. At 40 yards I put my pin on its back. |
