RE: price of gas- will it affect your season?

All systems are go. I'm like the space shuttle, there ain't no stoppen me or delays at any cost . The solid rocket boosters have kicked in. I have trained for a long time and have stayed focusto go on this mission. The cheque off list has been gone over time after time. The launch date is sometime in sept and the launch pad is continually being fine tuned, at any cost of fuel. ;)

Its already affecting my scouting trips and most likely will stop me from making as many hunts in my favorite area. Guess I will be hunting the nearby state land more this season.

Leaving on my elk hunt in less than 2 weeks, but we are going ahead with it since 3 of us will be splitting the gas.

i`m lucky to only have to travel 6 miles one way to hunt my friends private property.

i will admit though if i had to travel much farther the price would be taken into concideration.

Yep. I think for most of us it will. I will probably spend more time hunting around my house, rather than drive 50miles to my best spot. [:'(]This whole gas thing is a total scam.

I just got a new 20 acres to hunt, thank goodness it is within walking distance, and I have a good idea of where to go on it. I pretty much know where I am going to go, but the price of gas will have me reconsidering the longer trips. of course I commute 46 miles one way to work, 5 days a week. thank god for my honda hybrid

the explaination i heard on the radio yesterday says that basically no ones complaining . they said the economy is good right now and people are picking up the extra costs without a flinch. they also said that the rises in price are not even justafied. its just companies making money hand over fist. i could struggle and continue to hunt and drive to places like i have been but im gonna do anything i can not to buy gas.i had to buy tires this year and went with the smaller tires on my pickup as funny as it looks on my f-150. its killing me but i just dont jump in the pickup and make small errands anymore. i combine all my stops to one or 2 a week. another for instance theres a whitetail jamboree this weekend about 50 minutes from my home that i go to every year with guest speakers and some good deals to be had but im staying home. ive almost made it like a game in my head to figure out how to stay home and not spend on gas. i figure everytime i dont fire up the truck its money in my pocket;)

This thread is solid evidence that the price spike is at the hands of PETA[:@]. I knew them evil bastads had something to do with it! j/k[8D].

It's cutting down on my scouting trips also.

I don't know of ANYONE who is not complaining.
It suck and I don't like it!- but nobody cares about the little man.

What really bite is we will see an increase in all goods we purchase do to the rise in shipping cost. Buy whatever it is you want now, it's only going to cost more tomorrow.

Some of you guys mention how it will also effect the prices of other things. I'm and AC/Heat Tech, have radio/phone and Van, will travel. Yesterday the boss spent $90 to fill his truck/diesal, I spend about $120 a week, 2 tanks to keep the van running. We raised the price for a service call $10 yesterday. Last time we raised the price it was when gas first went to about $1.90 a gallon 2yrs ago. Yep, prices will go up while the oil companies make record profits. There isn't a shortage, we are just being gouged. I look for gas to stabilize around $3 a gallon for a while before it makes a push to $5 a gallon over the next 2 or 3 yrs.

i useually leave my ATV in the woods at thelease once hunting starts, so deer season is not a problem, i will just take the car (35mpg). All i take backand forth is my gun, hunting pack, and a few changes of cloths. that will save my gas money right there. during scouting and hog hunting tho there is no way i bring the car. its the SUV or the Truck and both KILL gas.

Not going to affect me. I'm not going to let those oil fat cats wreck my hunting plans. Might cost a little more, but I'll take that money out some other way, like food or baby diapers..haha.
