Which one would....
you shoot??
Last Sunday, Tyler and I snuck in an area to do some up close scouting of a couple bucks we spotted earlier. My intention was to get within 60 yards of where they were bedding and feeding as my camera takes decent pictures out to that far. Well the bucks got a little too close for comfort at 20 yards and 25 yards but we did manage to get out of there without getting busted. :D I've seen quite a few posts over the years on " which one would you take "... high and narrow or wide and good mass. Once we got out of there, I asked Tyler which one he would have taken. I'll give his answer and mineat the end of the post. Just curious as tohow others would have choosen. Here the senerio... You see these buck at 60 yards. You are bowhunting on the ground ( not much for trees here ). Sun is at your back. Wind is in your favor but dropping off. ![]() The bucks head your way... ![]() First buck stops at twenty yards with the second behind him at 25 yards. ![]() The high/narrow buck moves to the side but still 20 yards out and presents this shot oppertunity... ![]() The second buck stays where he is at in this position at 25 yards... ![]() Tyler said he would have taken the first one that presented a good shot. Good answer and smart one. I on the other hand ( at the time it was happening ) would have held out for the wider one. He never gave a better shot oppertunity thenin the last picture. I would have ended up passing as I didn't like the shot he offered. Tim |
RE: Which one would....
I like the last one too. I dont like antlers that go up alot, like in the 4th picture, I like it when they come out of their head and curve around and go parallel to the ground with long tines.

the wider one

RE: Which one would....
The 10 pointer with the tall rack andnarrow spread. He'd be in trouble if I was hunting and he came within 30 yards of my stand.

RE: Which one would....
whichever 1 gave me the best shot either bucks are trophy's. :D

RE: Which one would....
Wow, a couple of dandies for sure. I think I would prefer the...umm...well...I think either one would make me happy as a puppy with two peters! (But the taller on is the one I like I think.

RE: Which one would....
if i had a choice i would go with the last one but if he didn't offer a shot i definately wouldn't be disappointed with the other one.

RE: Which one would....
The one in the last pic for sure. I wouldn't hesitate to take any of them but if given the choice and had a clean shot at all at the same time it would be the one in the last pic. Beautiful buck for sure.

RE: Which one would....
I would have went with the first shot that presented itself. I don't have many nice bucks to my credit and since both are very respectable I would have taken the first one to present a shot opportunity.

TJF, awesome pictures, thanks for sharing. Both bucks need 1 more year! I would hold out for that hawg you posted a couple weeks ago..the big 6x5!!!!!!!!!
One more year and I wouldn't care which one of those bucks walked by, they are both gonna be dandies. Hey good luck to you and your son, thats great you guys are having so much fun prepairing for your archery season. Troy |
RE: Which one would....
That last one. He looks a little more mature than the others. His body looks to be deeper. But maybe he's just eating more than the others. LOL They're all nice bucks though!
