Boy they are sheddin'
I had always assumed that whitetailsbegan to shedabout a month from now...as the woods started to change into their fall pattern. I have been seeing many deer on my cam begin to change as early as two weeks ago. This buck pic from the past week still surprised me...
...along with a few more average bucks for good measure.

I too have noticed this, even as far back as three weeks ago. These deer are really shedding their summer coats. Heck, look at this guy, he is pretty well into shedding his summer coat and this was a few weeks ago.
The other thing I have noticed is that their antler velvet is starting to turn black on the ends of the points. I'll bet within two weeks I will get a pic of a buck that has shed his velvet. It seems a little early for that as well, who knows, we may be looking at a early winter?
