yeah, i noticed a week and a half ago they'd been working on that. I saw the reddest deer of my life the other nite in Iowa though, so not all are getting to the hair shedding. Last year, in Iowa, i saw the first velvet shedding between aug.14-21. I'm using iowa as my example because of good deer densities. I didnt see my first rubs behind my house until about the 24th. I dont know exactly the day in iowa becuase one day i was there and there wasn't any rubs and the next weekend this little staging area was completely trashed. mid august is pretty early i'd say. august 27th in MN-IA-WI-IL would be my guess on an average.

We are seeing it here as well.
Here are a couple bucksTyler and Isnuck in and got pictures of a week ago....
Looks like the buck in the first picture is pretty much done growing for the year in the antler department. Buck in second picture may grow a little more.

My father claims to have seen 2x rubs last week in Bradford County that he claims are fresh. I *should* be going down next weekend to grow one last foodplot and will check these *rubs* out.
