Peep sight or not?
 

I am getting tired of my peep sight (tough to see in low light etc) and was wondering what guys are or are not using peep sights. I shoot a PSE Stingray (very short bow) and have a Stay bright peep with a large hole but it is still tough to see through at times. I amconsidering the following and wanted to get some opinions.

1. Go with no peep
2. Get a different brand peep
3. Get a Hind sight no peep Peep

If by no peep you meant Timberline Archerys, NO-PEEP then by all means, go with the no peep. I put one on last year. Amazing.

I had the same problem and put a Tasco Accudot on my PSE Baby G and now on my new Swtichback. I can hit as well with it as anything that I have tried. Killed several deer with it on the PSE.:)

Id say just get another brand of peep site. I use the Tru-peep and it workes great on low light conditions.

I'm wondering if part of my problem is that since the bow is so short and the angle of the string is so steep that it will be difficult to use a peep in the string?

For hunting I say the No Peep. I have tried both the No Peep and the hindsite and think the No Peep works better. At least for me.

Red Dots work pretty well too, just the set up I had was expensive, heavy and didn't work very well for different yardarges. And you are relying on an electronic piece of equipment.

Yea, I agree about the Dot but I already had it (it was free) but the same principle could be used with any front sight. I have struggled with the peepless business since my eyesight has failed some. The only tip I have is: When I draw, I close my eyes for just a second to get my anchor point and then open my eyes. Practicing this way I have the right sight picture without looking for it. That'sreally what the No Peep teaches anyway.It's not easy to start with but sometimes us "old folks" don't have many options. I can at least touch the black dot with six arrows at 20 yds on a Block target and frankly that's about as steady as I can hold it. No danger of me overcrowding the 3D circuit.;)

I use a Redhead, it's got a transparent amber glass surounding the peep hole, it allows alot more light in and you can see thru the amber for a larger picture of the target.

I have a Mathews ultra max and stopped using peeps altogether. I usually just hunt woods and swamps so my shots are only 30 yards or less and I only have 1 pin on the bow. I put a kisser button on my set up and practiced getting the form the same every time. The string hits my nose and the kissersits in the end of my mouth. I find that it is accurate for hunting purposes at short ranges. If I can't see the pin then I know it is time to get down and try another day.

Yea, I do about the same thing. The only difference is I don't use a kisser button, I put the string on my nose and thehand-finger knuckle of my trigger finger right on my ear lobe. I'm like you, works well for hunting in our range. I have a Switchback at 70# and it doesn't drop much.

today in a magazine i saw a no peep set up that was like an open rifle site? i found it quite cool. anyone used this or no more about it than what i've said?

I took off the peep sight completely tonight and gave it a try using just a kisser buttom and puting the string on my nose. Actually I was quite happy with the results from 20 and 30 yds which is where nearly all of my hunting shots will be. I think I will practice this way for a few nights before deciding whether to try something like the hind sight.

I kinda like the clear view without the peep, now I just need to get used to seeing the string in my eyesight next to the pins and decide how to line it up for consistency.
