Mock Scrapes

Have you guys had any luck with mock scrapes and if so what kind of scent/lure did you use with it?

Mock scrapes will work for any body. Paw the ground away with a big stick about 2 to 3 feet around and pour some doe pee in it. If a buck comes by it I can almost gaurantee you he will smell it. You see this is what you have to understand. Mock scrapes, sents, decoys, are not going to magically make a big buck appear. You have to do your home work and scouting in your hunting area to know if these bucks exist. Now if you know there are big bucks in your area than chances are if you play the wind right and not pressure your hunting area to much you are going to see this brute during hunting season. Now is where the scrape sents and decoys come into play. As he comes thur you set up these hunting aids help to stop a buck giving you a chance to draw and drop your trophy. I'll put 2 or 3 mock scrapes and several scent cannisters in my shooting lanes so when moby comes thru he will stop and check it out. When he does. BAM BAM I kick it up a notch.

No luck here with them whatsoever.

I've made several and seen limited to no activity in them.

It's differen't for every area though, it's worth trying in your area if you haven't yet.

I tagged out over one in Georgia 2 years ago. I used some doe urine called Wiffer Trails and it really gets 'em stirred. The deer took over this scrape, and the real kicker is beside the one I missed along with the 2 I didn't, I got a picture on my trailcam to confirm my suspicion of a big daddy that I figured was around. This picture was of a 160" 10 pointer---during daylight 6 days after I had to quit due to tagging out!

I'vetagged a fewtrophy class animals that couldn't resist the sweet smells of a Mock Scrape laced with JVS Lethal Weapon Gel! They are excellent ways to atleast make sure you have a few mature deer in your area. I will always use them.

Like MOTOWNH said , they will work every time as long as there are bucks around . Don't expect to have them draw deer like rattling will but they will stop and check it out when they come through . I generally use a drag into the stand , make the scrape with my boot , and pee in it as well as leave the drag there . Have watched many a buck check this out with no negative reactions so I know it works . I used to pee in a bottle and all that nonsense and now just go off of the stand if need be . I have had alot of coyote tracks in my day old home brew scrapes as well . Try it , you will see .

i've never used them but i may try. when is the best time of year use them? can you start them in the early season and freshen them latter in the year with estrus urine? or would the opening of bow season be too early to start one with regualar doe urine?
