one thing ive noticed is that people think they need 10 foot clearings to shoot through. if you have to clear out a few spots around that stand, be careful to not overdue it. in fact, do the clearing as high as you can. trim a few branches around you rather then brush and sapling on the ground. they will notice that.

Although my usual practice is to clear my shooting lanes 2 months in advance, I have often found fresh sign later in the season and need to hang a stand. Being very scent conscious, you <u>can</u> sometimes get away with a little essential clearing done just before ascending into your stand. Trim just enough to give you sufficient clearance--big lanes are a give-away.

Today's small bucks are tomorrow's trophies.

Although everyone is right about scent control et.all...it does come down to what the deer are use to in your area.

In some areas, deer are use to some human presence in the woods, in these cases, I do not think you would have much of a problem cutting lanes now.

However, in other areas, where human presence is non-existent or extremely minimal, I would not recommend that you go in there until opening day.
