I hunt early in SC, and the mosquitoes can be worse than bad. I wont use spray for obvious reasons, and I do have a Bugtamer jacket. But, your hands, knees, and backside get eaten alive by these critters. 4 of them can carry you clean out of the woods,a nd drain your body of all blood! I've seen the Thermacell, and wondered if it works and is reall yscent free.

Personally I haven't had the opportunity to buy one, but from everything I've heard about them they work miracles.

I hunt in the hot humid woods of Mississippi. I was out turkey hunting in May, in the deep woods. I would get bit every few seconds by mosquitos. My friend had a Thermacell and he turned it on. I did not see a mosquito the rest of the trip. I would buy it if it sold for $250.

If you got skeeters then you need a thermacell. Worth every penny.

Lets get the smell thing out of the way while I am at it. If a deer can smell the thermacell then it can sure as heck smell you. The thermacell vapors only travel to the same exact places as your body odor and we all know which one the deer hate the most.

Why not just use good insect repellant like Deep Woods Off with 97% deet?

You can use the same logic...If a deer can smell the deet it can sure as heck smell you right? I use it and I don't think it smells any more than the Thermacell would, although I must admit I have never used a Thermacell. Anybody else just use deet?

I hunt in the deepest darkest Florida swamps and I will tell you that the Thermacell works. If you really want to find out if it works .....turn it off and see what happens!
I only found one Green fly that is immune to it. Everything else is no where to be found. It is one of the greatest inventions that has emerged into this industry in a long time.You will not be disappointed.

*It is something that you must reapply periodically,
*it can be sweated off,
*It burns the skin somewhat,
*the odor of deet is much much stronger than the thermacell,
*it does not work as well as the thermacell in that the thermacell creates a kind of "force field" around you about 10 - 15 feet where as the deet only keeps them from biting and you still gotta put up with the buzzing in your ears.

Thanks for the input fellas! And I'll add to the deet usage that not only does it burn the skin, but your skin is actually the largest organ of the body and deet is absorbed int o your system , which isn't a good thing!
