For the Overly Concerned

Seriously though, I don't know how much you will have to worry about it with target/3D arrows but with an exposed blade broadhead on a hunting arrow it does make a good bit of difference. I believe the standard figure commonly thrown around is 10-12%. My hunting arrows fall just slightly under that and I have never had a problem with them.

Hope this helps....and some good links above.

This site is a wealth of information and not just the forums. On the bowhunting page there are a series of articles under the title "everything arrows". There is a specific piece written on FOC http://www.bowhunting.com/everythingarrows.asp?page=5. It is believed that a range from 7% to 18% is acceptable with a prefered FOC of between 7% and 12%.

To give you an idea of what other shoot and have had good luck with I'll post my arrow specs.

29.75" gt advantage pro hunter (288.58g including insert)
3 4" duravanes (24g)
3 blade muzzy (125g)
GT Nock (12g)

Total arrow weight 449.58g
FOC 10.18%
