ALERT ALERT ALERT

This SH** just aint right, I read an article in a magazine the other day sports afield i think. there is a guy in texas that is cloning deer. he is taking skin sames from trophy deer that has been killed, doing something to the DNA and surgically implanting it into a doe so she will give birth to a deer. his goal is to have mutiple deer over the 300 score range. he claims they are his deer and that people due this to cattle and horses, so why cant he do it to his deer. i know there is deer farming but i think this is JUST plain WRONG. what makes a trophy deer if every deer you have is a cloned 300 score buck? i can understand the selling of deer sperm to artificially insemenate a deer but NOT cloning. chit like this can ruin it for all hunting and hunters.
hmm, lets make squirrels 30 pounds, rabbits the size of dogs, hogs the size of horses, qual the size of chickens, when and where will it end.
Pandoras box needs to be kept closed.
my .02cents worth on this. what ya all think?

I don't care for it either .
If the state he's doing it in considers whitetails to be game animals , and I don't know of any that don't , he might just find himself running afoul of the game laws .

Indiana is going through that right now with killing zoos , the owners say that it's their deer because they own them and they can do what they please , the state says otherwise since they're game animals . Who do you think will win in the long run ? ;) If his state allows farming of whitetails then he's probably right . Personally , I hope it gets outlawed , but with the increasing commercialization of the whitetail I kinda doubt that this will happen .

yeah i read something about that and i couldn't believe it!!!! then i thought about it for awhile and realized that it was an absolutely great idea!!;)
lol!!! not really!!!

that is the most outragious thing i have ever heard!!! it amazes me that people would do something like that. trophy deer would loose there worth to the hunter if someone down the road killed one exactly like it. [&:]. why would someone even dream of doing something like that... oh that's right the almighty dollar. i swear these days people will do anything for a buck(money not a deer).

I don't agree with this. The term trophy would become meaningless. They are
supposed to hard to come by, not behind every tree!

I decide what's a trophy to me.

Let them do what they want. This kind of thing started long ago when people started paying to shoot deer. History repeats itself over and over. Big shots who like to show off because they are extremely insecure started this and many who are just as insecure have brought it to this stage. This guy is a product of the mistakes of those before him.

Insecurity in a sport that should breed the purest individuals, yet even here individuality is frowned and sometimes demonized. There's a story as old as Cain and Able.

I decide what's a trophy to me.

I think its just palin funny!!!

For one, Just use some intelligence here for a minute...

You can do Dna splicing and clone a animal , or deer in this case, but and there is a BIG BUTT factor here. You can clone all the bucks you want to and never come out with one with the same antlers, yes there is some genetics involved in antler growth but most of the growth is from the animals diet and over all health , every buck will have antlers that look different in some way, all this dork is doing is starting with a good genetic base sequence. Sounds like a waste of time and a very large amount of money to me..
