Help me choose new sights.
I ordered a new bow today and I am trying to pick out a new sight system for it. I am looking to get a fixed pin style and I dont want to spend over $85.00 or less would be better.
I have surfed cabelas and saw the copper John,Tru Glow, and Cobras. Are the Cobras any good? Thanks Troy |
RE: Help me choose new sights.
i have owned 2 of the copper johns sights, i think u can't go wrong with them. steel pins, make sure to get the .19's if u want to shoot 40 yards or more. good luck

RE: Help me choose new sights.
I am shooting a Copper John 3 pin Deadnuts Hunter on my 3D bow and a Cobra Sidewinder Radiant on my hunting bow. Both are excellent sights and I would recommend either.

RE: Help me choose new sights.
I have been doing a good bit of sight rearch myself over the past three weeks. I am partial to the Spot Hogg Hunter Hogg it, but since that is out of you price range, let me share what I did find in your budget.
One of the best sights for the money is the Tru-glo Tru Site Extreme micro adjust. $69.00 and one tough sight. Easy to lock down and no tools required. Well worth a look. Next would be the Viper Predator Hunter. $79.00 and very light and well machined. It's not tooless, but it is well-made. Another good one if the Extreme Sniper 400. Camo and well-made for $89.00 I didn't care for any of the Cobra sights I looked at. I prefer ones with a totally round pin guard with a painted ring on it if possible, and a level. Go to Archery Experts on line, or call them at 1-888-833-9252. These guys all shoot and can be a real help. |
RE: Help me choose new sights.
You are going to get a lot of replies on this but my favorite sights is the Dusk Devil 2 or hunter model made by Montana Black Gold.
It is the ONLY sight on the market that guarantees you will be able to see your fiber optic pins during legal shooting light with out an external light source. I have used one for the last two years, and just bought another one for my new bow, and I can say with out a doubt this is true. It uses straight fibers to gather and transmit light rather than relying on wraping the fibers around a post like so many are doing now. It also comes with a 100% unconditional lifetime warranty to the original owner. Spot Hoggs are nice and Copper Johns are nice as well but I do not like that way the fibers are left unsupported along the pin. The DD fully supports its fibers their entire length. Truely one of the best and most under rated sights out there. http://montanablackgold.com/ |

Thanks for the feedback guys, I am going to check into what you all talked about somemore. The Dusk Devil Hunter sounds nice, just wish I could see it in person or better pics than off that web site.

Thanks Troy A little more information may be needed to help you. Do you intend to just hunt or compete or both? I don't compete at all I just hunt with my bow and I use a Cobra Mini Venom and have had zero problems with it at all. It is fairly cheap at approx. $33.00 It does however have a plastic sight guard. The restof it ismetal and I have yet to have a problem withit, I think however the next sight I buy will be all metal. I would have no problem buying another Cobra productthough as mine has performed just as it should. If you intend to shoot competitively I cannot help you and will defer to those who can. |
