RE: Fawn Distress Calls

I hunted with my brother-In law last year & he used one not long after we set up. Let me tell you! You could hear that doe coming through the woods long before she got to us. So if you want a doe to fill your freezer early then I'd use it!

Only once, but based on this I might again. I used one out of boredom during the afternoon lull. Had a doe run straight at me to within 4 feet, she came a long way to get to me as well. Two lessons learned from me here, one was not to put my bow down while hunting in a spot I couldn't get to quickly and the second...distress calls might just work...if you want a doe, it could be the ticket...

Never worked here in Kansas and I know lots of guys that tried them. They scare the bejeezus out of the deer here when they here them.

Never had one come in to a distress call, but have stopped them with it. I have tried it while spotting from my truck and have stopped bucks and does that were moving.

I have used them in the past. Work well. I have always had good luck bringing does back once I have seen them. Fun to watch them get all worked up. I haven't used it this year yet, but plan to tonight.

Okay those of you who have used them successfuly, is the call long and loud, short and loud, long and low? You get what I am asking, is it similar to a doe bleat? Do you do it once, 3 times in a row? I have used doe bleats on buck and doe with success, but I have not used a distress call.
