Another Question About Hunting Video Shots

Since everyone is talking about the bad shots taken on deer in the videos/tv shows, I was wondering if anyone noticed what I have lately. It seems like a lot of the shots are not pass-throughs. I can recall at least 6 hunts where the deer ran off with half of the arrow sticking out of it. I am wondering what kind of poundage these guys are shooting. Maybe a low weight because the have to hold it for the camera? I think I remember someone saying that in another thread. What do you guys/gals think?

It could also be taking shots that are to far. Unless they hit the shoulder of spine it should pass through.I shoot a 50# old recurve and pass throughs are the norm.

I shoot a 60 pound bow and at ten yards I had an arrow not pass through. The fletching did enter but not exit. I know my broadheads were sharp and I believe that I hit a rib which slowed it down.

If you look real close in a lot of these shots you'll see they're shooting mechanicals.

I've noticed that they will have about 3 different broadhead sponsers, but hardly ever let you get a good look at the one on the tip of their arrow.
Most of the time it is a mechanical though.

NOt sure why they aren't getting passthroughs but my guess its not the broadhead. I have shot mechanicals quite a bit and taken alot of deer with them and can only remember a couple that didn't passthrough and those were usually due to hitting the off shoulder on quartering away shot. So Don't just assume that just because they are shooting mechanicals is the reason they aren't getting passthroughs. If they are indeed shooting lower poundage so they can hold back the weight longer for the camera that would explain alot especially if they are shooting Mechanical heads as you need the speed and energy for them.
