Waterholes
Has anyone here had success hunting whitetails in the early season over waterholes? The waterhole I am thinking is on the edge of a field and is pounded with tracks. Do you think this would be a good early season stand location? Could you share some tips on hunting waterholes?
Thank you |
RE: Waterholes
I like hunting waterholes you ussually see alot of game, the only thing ive learned is dont walk up to the water keep your scent as far away from it as possible or they will find another one, sounds like a good place to hunt if all possible look to see where the feeding and beding areas are in relationship to the waterhole, and then find out the best set up for your stand, good luck, and keep us posted on what happens

RE: Waterholes
I always enjoy walk/spot-and-stalk but sometimes sitting in a hide in Africa can be most rewarding if you appreciate all the different animals coming to visit. It also teaches you a lot about animal behavior. Depending on the season and the habitat you mightbe forced to sit in a hide at a waterhole.

RE: Waterholes
For the past few nights a nice 13" wide 8 pointer has been coming on to the field out of the waterhole! I also found a tree to hang a stand in within 10 yards of the water. This spring, I also planted a small plot of clover that I think the deer travel past to get to the waterhole. Which spot should I hunt from?
