I really don't see what's wrong with it. If it was in a pen and the guy wanted to take it regardless of it's size or age what's the difference? The only question in my mind would be on how it was killed and that would be as quickly and with the least amount of suffering with the quality of the meat in mind. There are millions of hogs each year killed and I don't see anybody questioning how they were taken before the bacon is slapped on some bread with lettuce and tomato. There are places in this country where cattle are free to roam and it is never questioned if it's owner goes out and drops it except for the fact that he could have let it do some walking first. I got a hog once that a young couple got as a pet they split up and the dad was stuck with it. Was I wrong for raising it and eating it? Believe me it deserved to be eaten. How about chickens. If I let them roam around my yard and decide to eat one is it wrong for me to chase one down? Like I said the only question is in it's death. If you enjoy it and like to cause it to suffer your a sick bas!@#@. If you view it as a burden and a responsibility, but one that must be done and you are able to, then your have nothing to kick yourself about. You have done your duty, a difficult one at that. You have born a responsibility that few can handle.

I'll admit it is small and not much bigger than one you can catch at the fair but it's his. I'd wait, but I don't know the whole story.

Just make a quick clean kill, no worries.
