5 SHOT: Question/Food for thought... is the deer we find a week later consider a successful broadhead experience? And a doe with what sounds like a perfect shot placement goes 100 yards with the same broadhead? I've had very few deer go 100 yards with a properly placed arrow. Then on the other hand the 4 blade muzzy dispatches one in 25 yards. I know they're all different.... but I've always suggested or argued for the X type or 3 sided cut as opposed to a slit simply from a blood on the ground stand point. Just thinking outloud. IMO

1st doe--Cabela's Pro Lazer Mag, 3 blade, 125g, made it about 50 yards

2nd doe--Muzzy 3 blade, 125g, went about 80 yards

Dave, the broadhead did it's job on the deer, no question about that. I failed to do mine when it came to checking my equipment, as far as the arrow rest part goes. I was supprised myself at how far the doe ran with good shot placement, both lungs were taken out, but as you say with only a two blade "slit" vs a three or 4 blade hole I think the air just comes out of lungs slower, allowing the animal to go farther. I have tried to use a differnt style of broadhead for at least one of my deer for the past three years, just to see how they preform on game. I have pretty much come to the conclusion that for deer size game I will be shooting a muzzy 4 blade with a 1 1/8" cutting diameter. The extra blade vs the three blade model,along with the extra 1/8" cut compared to the 100 grn model should give me the best of both worlds, large hole, good accuracy and penetration. No I don't consider the buck I found a week later a succesful bow kill, nor am I proud of the facts surrounding what happend, but the fact is the broadhead did the job. As for the Doe, it is by far the farthest any well hit aniamal I have ever shot has gone. These facts along with the short trailing jobs I have had from fixed 3 and 4 blade heads has me convinced that for most archers with plenty of KE to spare,These heads are a better choice.

On Sat Oct 26 I got a real nice deer. 235 lb. dressed 12 pt buck (offically weighed by Minnesota DNR). I shot it at 22 yards. The deer ran 50 yards.

My set-up did a great job as usual. The broadhead was a WASP Jackhammer 100, 3 blade mechanical. Carbon Express 3D Select 300 arrow, feathers, Bowtech Patriot 70 lb.

Once again an awsome blood trail. I fact there was actually a double blood trial. The entrance and exit holes were so big, there were two blood trails about 2 - 3 feet apart. I'm really starting to like these 1 3/4" diameter Jackhammers!

My KE is 64.

Muzzy 100 four blade- 70# hog dead on the spot.
2 other hogs and 1 doe lost with same BH. All double lung looking hits and trailed for over 150 yards before bloodtrail pettered out.

Rocket Sidewinder = doe= WoW. I am impressed and not using another BH until these prove me wrong. They shot better out of my bow than the snypers and shockwaves I have and the holes they put in my doe and my friends 200# sow are just plain awesome. First time I've had a deer nearly die within view (she made a final death leap into the brush out of my sight before expiring)

I use 100 grain Deadhead Dagger Expandable broadheads made by golden key futura,no o-rings,they snap in place. 1 5/8 cutting diameter really cuts them good,and puts them down fast! $27.00 for a 3-pack.this is what i used on my deer today.they were attached to Easton A/C/C carbon aluminum arrows.
