RE: Would you hunt a lesser parcel of land?

Definitely. I go out of my way to avoid hunting areas where other hunters are or may recently have been. I have had to stop hunting some of my best areas because of the increased numbers of other hunters getting in there. I have permission now in some very small acreages close to high deer concentrations, some decent sized farms which have very little actual huntable spots and the like. When I find out that the owner gives permission to pretty much anyone who asks (and people are finding this out), I don't hunt there anymore.

I do it all the time. Not that I don't like hunters, I would rather see them at the Waffle House than in the woods.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who ventures to my spots were the habitat is less suitable/huntable and the bucks don't grow quite as big, so that i can be alone.

If by "lesser" you mean smaller then I would tend to agree with the others. Yes, ina heartbeat. Howevber, if you mean "lesser" in that your changes of filling your tag, especially on a trophy buck, are less then I would have to think it over more thoroughly. I always have to deal with other hunters in my neck of the woods so it would be a tough call.

Big woods, little woods - 100 hunters - no hunters. If I find a deer I want I will go in and get him...........................................

Well..............I used to think like that:D

Now I just hope to get out once or twice and see a deer:)

By lesser, I mean either the parcel of land doesn't have nice areas to hunt(no food on it, little to no bedding areas, etc.) or there are less deer and less chances of shooting a big buck.

Ryan,

Correct me if I am wrong, but what you are asking is..... Would you hunt a lower deer percentage area to avoid other hunters?

Personally I always try to find the areas that other hunters don't hunt or don't know how to hunt as long as I findthe kind of deer I am after.... using the area. Now that "kind" could be as simple as one doe family that is using the area to travel through that will eventually server as great baitduring the rutor just that one buck that I want to hunt is passing through this area. I never care how many deer are using my area as long as "THE" deer I want to see is using it. Its nice to not have to hunt an area that others are going to screw up for you either.

On the other hand for me it would be a waste of time to hunt an area, regardless of having NO hunters around to hunt it if you don't have at least somedeer using it. I don't go out to hunt to just sit alone, I can do that in many places of this country, I expect to see the animals I have scouted and set up on.

I will hunt anywhere I am allowed too. Providing the oppurtunity for deer is there.

RE: Would you hunt a lesser parcel of land?

:Dyes i would and i do!!!!!! i have about 11acre to hunt and i get deer every year. i hunt a flat that has a draw on each side of it. and a traikl that runs along the bottom of it, i do have to wait and be patient though. i am by a giant swamp with 2 lakes in it so i just sneak out to one of ny stands depending on the wind. i do put a feeder on the flat and hunt the perimeter of it. and it works reslly good this way, to let the does into the feeder and hunt the outside perimeter for the bucks. i have three stands on the perimeter. good luck bowhunting.
