Baiting deer is legal in Texas and I've hunted over a feeder some. What I've seen though, is that you can sit there and watch does and small bucks lining up in the brush, waiting for the timer to kick on, and they charge the feeder when the corn starts hitting the ground. Even if you wanted a doe or small buck, it's kinda hard to get a clear shot on one deer out of that mob. Always a deer blocking the one you want, or in position to get wounded on a passthrough. The big boys won't come in to the feeder. So, my tactic is to set up an ambush on a trail about 50-75 yards away from the feeder.
No different than hunting a trail to a planted food plot.

It's legal to herd them up in the corner of a ten foot fence in Texas too.
It's legal in a lot of places to shoot sitting ducks and turkeys off the roost too but only jerks do it.
Food plots and even corn fields don't pop up at 9 am every morning to train them to walk through the shooting gallery in time for you to make work by first break.
Man, you Texans stock has really been falling in my eyes lately and I wasn't even blaming you for Gee Dub.

This crap is getting old!! Can we just lock this fricken thread and move on?
How about a seperate forum just for the heated topics like baiting , trophy hunters -vs- meat hunters , crossbows , my way is the only way and everyone else just sucks kinda stuff.? With a great big title like The Debatable Issues Forum accompanied with a warning to all who enter...do not enter unless you are ready to defend your own personal hunting ethics to other hunters who feel their ethics are better than yours!!! Expect the unexpected , as surely someone will disagree with your choice in boxers over briefs , and try like hell to make you feel like less of a person for your choice!
Yeah I know , before anyone bothers to say it , nobodys forcing me (or anyone) to open the threads and reply. Have you looked around lately? Alot of the less obvious thread titles have turned into pi$$ing matches. Mix that with the monthly crossbow , baiting , trophy hunter , etc etc threads , and a person has to weed through a couple pages to get some decent topics. We need a sub-forum for all these beaten to death topics that continuously pop up , a dozen times a year every year , so when a new poster is just wondering what everyone thinks and starts another thread, it canbe imediately sent their.

There is a lot of validity to the comments that Bowfanatic has made!I know no one is forcing any of usto participate in any of these kind of discussions/debates and some of it is interesting because you get to hear some view points that you hadn't considered.
The topics that bowfanatic referenced have been pretty well beaten to death!

People know right from wrong and they know other people know right from wrong.
They also know if they are doing wrong they probably aren't the only one so they look for other wrong doers to flock together with.
It is just coincidence they all landed in Texas and their conciense started bothering them. They need help rationalizing baiting deer in the corner of a fence because they know darn well exactly what it is when they are sitting there staring at 50 pounds of corn on the ground.
Other wise they'd never even bring it up.
You never see me around here soliciting the OK to hunt a big oak tree I found in the woods. Only cheats need help talking themselves in to it being OK.
