How often do you get a new bow

Just wondering if people keep what they have for a long period, or aftera year or so trade them so you can still get something out of them.

I have kept my past bows for 4 to 5 years. I got a new xTec last year and still love it.

My average is probably one every two years but it varies.

I have been shooting for two years, and bought a bow each year. I will probably keep my Bowtech Allegiance for several years.

One every week or so!;) Seriously, I bought my first bow off Ebay last week. Didn't like it at all, so I traded it on my Allegiance yesterday, which was really the bow I'd wanted all along. I also put a Hoyt Rintec on layaway for my wife the same day!

This will be my 13th year of bowhunting and my 6th different bow that I've used. I guess I'm on about a 2 year average. However, after the coin I dropped on a new setup this year I have a feeling I'll be sticking with it for awhile.

I've been bowhunting for 6 years and have used the same bow for all 6 years. I'll probably use it another 4 years, as long as it's still in working order.

I intend to be a one every 5 to 6 years person.Although previously it has been one every 2 or 3 years.Between taking a beating on the sale of a used bow and the fact (this is a hard one)if I am not shooting well it is not the bow it is me.My Ultra tec of 2002 will be with me for a while!

:D It has been a slow year....only 3 bows so far. My finances aren't as flexible as they once were. Kids will do that to you. ;)

Frank,
do you still have the Jennings 3.4?How do/did you like that bow? What were the other two?Seems to me you said something about an old glory?

Lets see... My first compound was a Browning Nomad Deluxe II.... Wooden riser, steel cables....about 20 years old b4 I bought my BowTech. My BowTech is an '03, figure I have a good 17 years left. Maybe there will be some new archery innovations by then... Seriously, probably a few more years to go given the budget situation.

OOPS,I forgot to answer the ?.I didn't start bowhunting until i was 28,and that was 7 years ago and i'm on my second bow.Kept my first bow as a backup but it doesn't see hardly any use.

I'm limited to one free one a year, but sometimes I get two. 16 bows in the last 12 years.

Been shooting compounds for 31 years now and have had 26 bows.

jsasker,

I was relatively impressed with the CK 3.4R. It definitely was a step in the right direction for Jennings. I did a review of it that should be easily found with the search function. It was either in the tech forum or the bowhunting gear review forum. I would love to give one of their new hybrid models a whirl but just don't have the money at the moment.

The other two bows are an Old Glory and a Diamond Triumph. The Old Glory has turned into my "3D bow" while the Triumph looks like it will be accompanying me this fall. ;)

I've been getting one every other year four the past 6-7 years but if this Outback keeps shooting the way that it has been lately I may have to keep it a little longer.:)

I've had the same bow since I was 16. So thats 5 years. I would like to get a new one but the cost of the Vipertec is up there. I won't settle for anything else but the best.;)

I am a creature of habit, and hate to change. LOL

I've had my current jennings for about 5 years and am very comfortable with it and see no reason to change.

I'm with Pro-line. I bought my firt new bow in 1987 2.1992 3.1996. I'm planning on another new one next year. It's hard to change when you get a good one.

This will be my 5th year with the same bow. I keep saying that I'm going toget a new one, but then I think if it's not broke- don't fix it...

RE: How often do you get a new bow

I buy a new bow every 3-4 years depending on if that year's models are better than my current bow by a large margin AND the cash I have available. I just dropped about $850 on a Bowtech Defender setup so it's time to start up the bow fund again for the next one. :) I always sell my old bows to help offset the cost.
