Default Game Cam Battery Pack Experiences??

I am searching for a digital game cam and am concerned about battery life. I have found 2 that have battery packs using 12v which you can hook up to them in the woods. Anyone had experiences with these products? One is a stealth.

Thanks!

I have a Stealth 1.3 digital and I broke down and purchased the external lead battery pack.
The instructions,(or lack thereof) say to charge the battery for 15 hrs before first use.
Impatient as I am, I charged it for 6 hrs and hung it out on a tree with just some cheap rechargeables in the
cam itself. I came back a week later and the battery was dead.
I am hoping that it was just the 6 hr charge that caused the short battery life so I am going out right now
to put it back up with a fully charged external and fully charged rechargeables inside.
I am assuming the external battery is supposed to keep the rechargeables charged inside the cam.
If I dont get at least a month out of it this time, I will be pissed.

The Stealth Cam digitals are junk and you will never see good battery life with them. I had the 3 megapixel version and using Duracell Ultra batteries, I could expect 3 days of battery life even without any pictures being taken. I broke down and bought the solar panel and even with that, the unit was using too much power to have a "lasting" charge.

Right now I have a Trail Mac Digital and I am very impressed. With rechargeable batteries, I can easily get 200 flash pictures without needing to recharge. With standard AA batteries, I can get probablly 400 pictures, and with NIhm batteries, I caneasily get around 700-800flash pictures. Now, the big differance with this and most other units is that the camera in the Trail Mac runs on 2-AA batteries. The sensor which runs on 8-AA batteries will last nearly half a year. Alot of companies promote huge battery life with their digitals, but the fact is you just aren't going to get the battery life that they say. That is what I love about the Trail Mac. It is very close to the projected battery life, and un-like pretty much all other units, I only have to replace 2-AA batteries instead of 8 or 10 batteries.
