3D range..

..Who0a Boy } } the wind was blowing,,have you ever noticed that wih a strong cross wind upon release you see your arrow being carried sideways, before impact??, so much as 4 to 6 inches from center ring,,best i could come up with today was a "256' on 40 targets. Wind at your back seemed to help a bit. helped w/Straight an narrow.

RE: 3D range..

I do alot of 3-D in the desert. The wind always seems to be blowing(sometimes feels like a convection oven) the wind has a big effect on arrows, especially the light 3-D arrows. When the wind picks up. I go to a heavy set up on my other bow. The heavier arrows seem to have less impact from the wind.

I shot yesterday in a strong wind. One might think that I was handicapped with hunting gear shooting a 416 grain arrow. However in the wind, the other guys in the mens open were shooting the light gear, and their arrows were blowing all over the place. I ended up in 2nd shooting my heavy set up.

I like ACC's in the wind with short, low profile fletching with 11% foc.I see very little affect on my arrows impact,as long as I can hold on the spot;).

I have seen many on these sites say wind isn't a problem in 3-d [:o].Here in the Western Ky, we have wind clear up into the summer and yes we even have it affect us in the woods, but not as bad.

I shoot a 400 grain (total arrow weight = 398) and I do notice that the wind will whip my arrow around a bit. Like you said, in a moderatly strong breeze about 4 inches or so over 30 yards. I have thought about compensating for this, but am always afraid the wind will die down just as I release. What I attempt to do is hold until I feel a lull in the wind and then release. Sometimes it works, sometimes its a gut shot.
