Anyone see this new version of Outfitter camo?

I have always liked the Outfitter camo from Cabelas but never bought any because I didn't like the style or type of material, but this 2005 microfleece version gets my attention. Only comes in two types of shirts and a 6 pocket pair of pants. Its also made in the U.S.A.

nice pattern/design but for me I don't like the color tones they used.

reminds me of the army camo which i don't really care for...i'll stick with the realistic lookin' stuff.

Don't let the color scare you away. That stuff will work especially in elk country out west. Sure I think there are better camo patterns, for example ASAT or Predator but you cant' always get them in the material that you like. Micro fleece is good stuff in my opinion.

Is that stuff for hunting in the fog? Don't like it - and I'm out west (Idaho).

I like the open patterns better such as Predator, ASAT and this Outfitter camo. Mossy Oak, Realtree, etc. may look real because of photographic images........but stand back only 20 feet away and its nothing but a dark blob. IMO a person could wear a checkered shirt and pants and have the same effect as those.

Given the choice of using military camo or the "realistic" camo designs in a wooded firefight, I bet the military would still choose the military type camo.

"Realistic" looking stuff sucks! That high def junk is more for the shelf then the woods. I think and have herd other say that the high def stuf makes your movement more visible. Some of the best camoed animals are femail ducks, grouse and other birds and i have ever seen them with leaver painted on them selves, they just have diferent shades of light and darks in noparticular patern covering there body. Even a deer in its solid fall gray coat can walk right by you and in some light it will almost disiper. Camo dose give alittle advantage but dont get to confident in it, if you move and that deer (or what ever else) is looking in your direction it will see you and the gig is up. I hunted for years with a dark green rain coat and green wool panta and had deer look right at me and never know I was there.

About the camo pattern I like it, simple but it may be alittle light for my saroundings, lots of pines.

I can see what you mean Coug. This new version of it seems to have more contrast. The green(?) is darker than past versions thus giving it a better chance of breaking up your outline.

I will leave the whole open versus conventional argument for another time....;)

There is a reason the army is still using it.

I prefer the open patterns as well. I spent a good deal of time on stand in my Sticks n Limbs once the leaves started to drop. I like the "realistic" looking stuff while the leaves are still on the tree.
