What brand of trail camera do you use?
It's simple enough - what brand of trail monitoring camera do you use for scouting? If you own multiple brands, only choose your favorite or the one you think works the best.

RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
I have 2 Leaf River DC-2BU digitals.
I am not 100% satisfied with them at this time though:eek: You guys thinking about a small trail cam contest this summer?:D |
RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
Nah, just curious to see what everyone is using, and why.
The deer hunting contest is enough for us to keep track of. ![]() |
RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
I use a homemade digital with a Olympus360 I like it.

RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
Stealth Cam here. It's cheap and I'll compare the quality of my pics with anyone!:)

RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
Stealth Cam here. Considering the price and the chance of one getting stolen in my neck of the woods.......;)

RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
Digital stealth cam. I didn't vote because I don't want to give people the impression that I'm happy with the cam. The 1.3 mp modle isn't bad on batteries but it has issues when it's used at temps below 30 degrees. The flash/camera requires to much juice then the 6aa batteries can provide, so when the cam cycles it takes a picture of darkness. This is only a problem with night pics but it seems that around when the rut is kicking off good my cam craps out. [:@]

I bought the 1.3 meg Moultrie digital, I think it's good for someone who wants a cheap digital to start with. The pic quality is good and battery life with rechargables is good also. For 130.00 from archeryexperts you can't go wrong.

RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
I have an old Non-typical deercam that is still in use, but I voted for my newer Leaf River Digital.

I have a Trail Mac digital and love it. I had a 35mm Camtrakker and liked it as well. I have gone strictly digital because of 2 reasons. Its cheaper in the long run plus you can see what you have right then as there is no need to wait for the film to be used up and then develpoed. I have tried stealthcam and wouldnt waste my money as they are cheap and noisey. I have looked at the Cuddeback but you have to have a tv with you to view it or wait till you get back to the computer to see the pics. Then you may decide that you wanted to move your camera. I recommend Trail Mac and Camtrakker more than any other camera. Also check out my website as I offer the camera post to put your camera on when you dont have a tree where you want it. Take a look at some of my best photos that I have on there and I have more to put on. Go to www.undertakerenterprises.com You will also find if you look on Camtrakker and Trail Mac's websites that they carry my product.

ORIGINAL: buckeyebuckhntr I have 2 Leaf River DC-2BU digitals. I am not 100% satisfied with them at this time though:eek: buckeye....why are you not satisfied with your Leaf River cams? Just curious as I own the DC-2 but I'm thinking about getting another LR. Only thing I dislike is their slow 3-4 seconds before it takes a pic. But from my research most or all digital cams are slow thats why I also have two LR 35mm's. Other than that I really like mind and their customer service is top notch. |

Other than that I really like mind and their customer service is top notch. My first leaf river would not allow me to use the lcd screen to set the cam settings. I sent it back and they replaced it with a new one. The cam worked great for me for a while so I bought another one. Problems I have had: Both of the cams I will get all black pictures quite often at night. The cams flash is set correctly as well with fresh batteries. Both cams will at times get washed out white pics during the day light hours. I have got a couple all orange and yellow pics from one of the cams. I have got a couple double exposure pics from one of the cams. One of the cams at times will not trigger and take pics. The cams will take great pics and are very easy to use and operate. With every thing aside I really like the cams, I believe I just got a few faulty cams? |
RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
I have to say ever since i got my cuddeback back from repairs its been working great, its taken over 150 pics in 4 days and i cant complain with any of them. I also think out of all the digitals it has the fastest trigger speed, for the 6 months ive owned it and out of the several hundred pictures its taken only two of them have the rear end of a deer.

RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
I use a homebrew made with a D-380 digital cam, I upgraded the card to a 126mb and it works like a dream... I put it out two weeks ago and it racked up a impressive 446 picture, I identified six different bucks in the area, just moved it to another area of my lease to see whats traveling, its hard to wait another two weeks!!!!!!!!

RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
I've used quite a few trail cameras, at the moment I have another two on order from Nature Qwest (Jeff) haven't gotten them as yet, but I "expect" they will be the answer to all the various problems I've had with trail vcameras.
Buckeyebuckhntr has summed up the DC-2BU LR cameras perfectly---they are good trail cameras--but they do have snags. Since I've not tried the newer trail cameras on order (Samsung 4.0 IR& Sony S40 4.1)--I'll have to say at this time the LR DC-2BU is the best of the lot I've used ---so far. |
RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
Cuddy Digital so far has been better than advertised.
73 pictures (and 10 second "movies") over one week on a salt block this week. Whats best - the deer seem to have no idea the cam is there - almost never are they looking at the cam in the picture - The silent digital pics/video have been fun. With the Stealth Cam - 35mm - I got some good pics - BUT - It scared the crud out the deer - and I learned not to put it near where I hunt. |
RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
I have the DeerCam... the first one.
I also have had good luck w/ Moultrie. |
RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
STEALTH CAM. IT'S CHEAP AND IT GETS THE JOB DONE!:)

RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
Trail Magic.

RE: What brand of trail camera do you use?
Its the Cuddeback for me, Unbelievable battery life and great quality pics, almost 1500 pics on 4 D-cell batteries. My Cuddeback has paid for itself over and over in film, batteries and developing cost, taken somewhere around4000 pics the last 2 years, and best of all there is no waiting to get your pics, I'm viewing pictures within minutes instead of days, which really helps during season.
