Considering single pin sight...any input..

I am thinking about going to one of the adjustable sights with a single sight pin. Seems to me anything you put on your bow that's loose enough to move without tools would be noisy. The concept of being able to set your distance and hold is a good one though. Any comments or recomendations... Thanks, Fletch

How many sights do you have on a rifle or shotgun. I've been shoting one sight with my bow for quite a long time because of my sights. I now have a better set up where I can adjust the pins for different yardage but keep asking myself why.

They are perfectly quiet. Thats not even an issue. (at least the high quality ones). Single pin for hunting is great. They have a nice, uncluttered, and simple sight window. I think they work best if you have a fairly fast bow and shoots pretty flat. ( light arrow ) ( I shoot 70 lbs. and 360 grain arrow, 288 fps) They also are good if you keep your shots under 30 yards. You can shoot more but after 30 yards arrows typically start to drop quite abit. In a hunting situation, you can't count on adjusting your pin to the yardage in time. So, I set mine up and hunt with it at 20 yards. 10 yards is right on, 20 yards is right on, 25 yards aim about 1" high and at 30 yards aim 3" high. You learn this quickly when practicing. I practice out to 50 yards but still limit my hunting range to 30. (Your bow will be close but different) For 3D they're great because you have time to adjust it.

A couple good adjustable sites are: HHA Optimizer Lite ( which I have) and the Impact Archery Cosmic Air Lite. These are both really good units.

Good Luck!

I have the HHA Optimizer lite and have found it to be perfect for my set up.
I have it set on 20yds I wont take a shot at a deer past 30 yds my comfort range is 15 - 25 yds altho I do practice out to 50 yds.

fletch, I have an Impact Cosmic Lite. There is no brighter pin I know of. It's very compact, light, and makes no noise at all. There are 2 thumb screws to lossen when adjusting. Some people don't like this, I don't mind it. I set mine on 25 yds, and forget it.

Thanks for the input, I did look at one of the Impact site at the bowshop and it looked pretty solid. (but pricey!) It sounds like everyone who's shooying one of these things doesn't plan on making any adjustments anyway once their in the stand.... I think I'll have to leave this one on my wish list and just stay withing my effective range with my block site.. Thanks again..Fletch
