RE: How fast, how hard, how much
i throw 165gr 30cal bullets around 3000fps......get an arrow doing that and ill say you have over kill.......till then.....i think we can always use more velocity and energy.......surprises me that noone can come out with a bow design that can do it......but im sure with arrows there is a point that too much is going to be BAD.....wonder what that point is........so fast and im sure arrows will shatter or something BAD......who knows............but todays bows came along way since heck.....10 years ago........

RE: How fast, how hard, how much
I'm shooting a 540grn arrow at about 255-260 fps. Needless to say, that at about 80ft-lbs of energy I don't worry about my mechanicals not opening;)

RE: How fast, how hard, how much
I'd much rather be able to see the fletching still sticking out of the ground after a well placed shot. Keep building them faster and stronger and sooner or later you'll bury the arrow passed the fletchings after a well placed shot. If your that worried about bad shot placement then you need to focus on the problem at hand!

Well said Bowfanatic........ and IMO the root of most archery evil.........

RE: How fast, how hard, how much
For me the limit as to how fast and how heavy happened when I got a bow that would throw a 412 grain arrrow 258 feet per second with a 60 lb draw weight. I don't need nor want anything thing more. 60 ft lbs of Kinentic energy is enough for anything I'm going after.

RE: How fast, how hard, how much
I like fixed blades and cut on contact broadheads for elk and other big game. If you push them over 300 feet/second they don't fly to well. I'll stick with todays speed!
