Black Hole Target - 22"x16"x11"
Black Hole Target:
Construction: Vertical Layered Foam.
Dimensions: 22" x 16" x 11"
Overview: I kept seeing the advertisements in all the bowhunting magazines about open layered targets. Originally I looked at the block but then I saw the Black Hole at Bass Pro Outdoor World for only $39.99. Upon looking at them I couldn't tell much difference except the price. I could tell metal straps banded both so I decided to go with the Black Hole. Come to find out Field Logic makes both products and owns the rights to them right down to the rights to Black Holes domain name for the World Wide Web.
My Rating system is like this 1 = poor, 10 = best.
Durability: 1 - This is the biggest piece of junk I have owned. After less than 700 shots with broadheads it is falling apart, one of the bands has broke and I am getting pass troughs. At first I loved it until I got a few hundred shots in it.
Quality: 1 - Anything that falls apart this fast isn't even worth talking about the quality. This thing isn't even 3 weeks old!
Arrow Stopping: New = a 10, 3 weeks old it is maybe a 2. I will go half way and give it a 5.
Longevity: 1 - I have pillow targets that have held up 5 or 6 times longer with broadheads.
Price: 3 - Great price for a target new even though now I realize it wasn't worth 5 bucks.
Warranty: 1 - I have found no information stating it has one.
Total Score: 2
Final Comment: Of all the archery products I have bought this is the worst investment I have ever made. I hope no one else gets suckered into this target. It may have done much better with field tips but heck it should have lasted longer with super dull broadheads. I am sending e-mail to the address on the Black Hole web site to see what they say. I would hope they would stand up and at least refund me or send me another target. I hate giving any company’s product a review like this but I don't think it is right to sell a product that falls apart so fast. All I can say is consumer beware.

Moonge...thanks for the review/warning <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> I'm still trying to find a "real good" broadhead target that won't break the bank. Heck...I guess even if you could find one that would just do what they say...or at least come close..the $ might be worth it.

I'm with WV Hunter on this one as for trying to find a good broadhead target. I was considering buying a layered target like this, but now I'm not so sure. Anyone have any recomendations on a good broadhead target? I'm not sure I wanna tear my 3D all up with broadheads.

for broad heads get "the cube" its made by Americian whitetail archery targets... sucks with field tips, carbons bond to it but broadheads don't ..its like six sides all that can be shot... not open layers like the block these are glued together. broadheads cut carbons don't bond from heat... shot mine for 2 years now still together...

We have been using the black hole for about 9 months or so and so far it has held up well altho the center is just about shot out of it.
We only use field points and every now and then I will let fly a broad head. I would have a guess that it has atleast 3 thousand shots into it.
Unlike a 3d deer target I got on Sunday 50 shots with field points and the 50th arrow went zipping right through it.

I have "the CUBE" to and it does terrible with field points and did good with broadheads for a while, now the inside i coming out when i pull the broadheads out. It wont be long till I have to get another target. Ive got a magazine that states the best broadhead targets. I cant find it right now but ill look for it. The target was 150.00 and they said it would last forever. It was clay. The only downfall they said is it leaves some clay on the broadheads.
