Golden Key 3D Rover

Well I am back! Glad to be back to do some more reviews after being out of the forums for a while, been working too much!

Golden Key 3D Rover:

Construction: Machined Aluminum.

Overview:
This is one of those products I always take for granted. It always works, is durable as heck, and will last a lifetime. It is the one piece of equipment that I use that I just don't think about. Trust me this isn't a bad thing, that just means it always works and never breaks. Really what else can you ask for? Golden Key has been around for years and I have used a lot fo their products. Always they make a fine product and have made some of the best arrow rests out there.

Rating system is like this 1 = poor, 10 = best.

Durablilty: 10 - This thing is rock solid, mine is actually 6 or 7 years old I guess and has been through a lot of tough hunting, hard weather, and 1,000's upon 1,000's of shots.

Quality: 10 - I have never had any problems with this rest. It is very well made, one of the best.

Price: 9 - A Well made tough product that is cheaper than it's big
brother the Golden Premier. Would be nice to pick one up for a little
less but heck I got my dollars worth out of it.

Warranty: 10 - A 100% lifetime limited warranty.

Tune Ability: 9 - This rest is easy to set and adjust but lacks some of the adjustments of the Golden Premier

Total Score: 9.6

Final Comment: If you have not tried this rest give it a try. I think you will really like it and will find is is one of the best hunting rests I have found for a release shooter. As always the quality is great and like I said it is built like a tank. You won't go wrong with this rest, trust me!

Ditto:

Have two older "Golden Premier" type rests on 2 bows. One rest is 10 years old. Nary a problem and love adjustment capabilities.

Like being able to micro-adjust the rest to compensate for some of the string stretch. "Body by Fisher."

I agree, I have had the same rover for 5 or 6 years now, it works great, is easy to tune, and is very durable. I honestly have not found a better shoot through rest, a couple I like as well, but nothing better.

I use the 3-D Rover on my huntin bow and it has given me flawless performance for the last six years!
I have taken two "BOOK" whitetails with this rest on my bow.I am very seriously addicted to hunting mature bucks and would not have anything but what I consider the best equipment on my huntin rig!
The BIG BOYS just dont stumble by every day....so when you get the chance, you have got to know that your equipment will not fail,I have that faith in the 3-D Rover.
I also use the Platinum Premier on my 3-D rig and ended up 3rd overall in the Midwest Triple Crown I.B.O shoots this year.
All of the talk is about the fall away rest`s but I would not trade my Platinum Premier or 3-D Rover!

GKF Tech I think the 3 best looking products you have going right now are the Infiniti, Platinum Premier, and of course the Mirage. I have not tested any of them & have only looked at them as some of the pro shops. I guess if I had too choose the Infiniti and the Mirage would be 2 I would have to check out.

Everyone thanks for the positive remarks regarding my review. Like I said more to come in the next few weeks!

Well, well, it appears there is an elite and sophisticated society of "Golden Key" aficionados out there! Do we risk being classed as snobs?

If we "Golden Key-ers" are, in fact, a special breed of intelligent archers that possess a refined taste for the finest; should not we have a "coat of arms" to display so that all others will know?

I believe "Golden Key" should produce a line of shirts and jackets, and patches, that bares a "Golden Key" rest and the slogan:

"Finding the Key to having a superior rest is Golden"

RE: Golden Key 3D Rover

C903....True we are a special group ..Yes.... Snobs Never!
Golden key has been making rests and accesories for 34 years now!
and we are the Elite ! Thanks!

send me your Email I will send you a Hat ,patch and sticker!

Like the slogan....

these are a few sm./tm. Slogans we used in the past...
The KEY to better Archery!
Silence is Golden.. Key....
Your Key to archery success.

RE: Golden Key 3D Rover

Also had the 3D Rover on my old bow I sold a few months ago. Awesome rest, easy to adjust, and tough as nails. Never had a problem. But when I bought my new ProTec back in March I needed a rest so I could shoot my bow until I could get my hands on one of the new dropaway's that were coming out mid summer, so I picked up a cheaper rest temporarily, the Speed Set Hunter for $25.00. Well after using this rest for some 3 months now, I not so sure I'm going to replace it with anything else. This really is a super nice rest for the money! The only thing that this rest lacks is some marks on it to aid in adjusting. Once you have it dialed though it's sweet! I have been eyeing up the Mirage and NAP's 4000, but I may wait another year til everyone has all the bugs worked out before I purchase one. GKF Tech, thank you guy's for making some really high quality affordable rest's.

SMOOCH....The Rover is a great Micro drive rest and the new
Rover Hunter now has a silent return and is a hunters dream..
The Speed Set Hunter Rest is a top quality rest for the money
and one of our most popular rests.
The New Mirage is a well made unique Fallaway and will be a
plus to any bow.
Swooch the Speed Set Hunter is a great choice.

Eight....Cabelas did not add the Rover Hunter this year to their catalog?
They are regretting it ...
Bass pro/Redhead has it and so does Eders.com
You will be happy with this Micro rest...

I know that you guys love your Rovers, but personally, I absolutley love my Premier Fall away. I can get away with my four helical vanes now. I also use the TM Ultimate on my backup bow.

GKF Tech, I hope you guys at golden key are happy!
I have always been a curious type of guy. You know, the kind that has to test every new thing out there. Well, 6 or 7 years ago, I lost the desire to try new rests. No matter how much I liked one, I would always go right back to my golden premiers. I just checked out of curiousity... I have 1 platnum premier, and 10(ten)golden premiers.
If you could just make them so they would come loose and move on you once in a while, it would really help me out!
This freaking bulletproof rests have all but ruined my life!
By the way, I still have about 15 "other" rests lying around.
What am I supposed to do with them? HUH?

Thank`s alot, you guys are heartless!

RE: Golden Key 3D Rover

Since it is almost the norm these days to expect a product to be junk, impractical, and not work as claimed, or not work at all; could a person actually sue for causing emotional stress if the product is determined to be superior, totally practical, and performs better than the manufacturer claimed it would?

After all, it is an emotional shock when you pull your Golden Key out of the package and first see the quality of material, design, and workmanship. You become worried that GFK inadvertently sent you a special order that was specifically made for someone with big bucks.
You calm down after determining the quality of the rest is standard for everyone. You call work and request an extended vacation, drag out your bag of tools, and make a large platter of sandwiches, in preparation for the long haul of installation and adjustments.

You again experience overwhelming trauma. The installation is so simple and so quick you become concerned that you did not perform all the steps; and correctly. So you read and reread the directions for hours, only to find out that the installation is that simple.

Now comes the "biggy." It is time to adjust the settings. You know from experience with several other brands of rests; you are about to perform a complex and frustrating operation. You pull out your tape measure, your level, your caliper, your special aligner, your spring tension gauge, and a bottle of aspirin. Then you loosen your kisser button and peep-sight that you have concreted in place because you know you are going to have to adjust their heights properly to coincide with the rest's height.

Shock and confusion sets in; not all the complexity well known to you is there. After reading the instructions again you embarrassingly retrieve a small hex wrench and Phillips head screwdriver. You loosen a couple of screws and start dialing in your micro-settings for windage (centering) and elevation. At this time is when you discover you did not have to loosen you kisser and peep-sight settings.

You start shooting and dialing in your settings. The adjusting and correcting actions are so simple and precise, you get caught up in a fervor of getting revenge for past (negative) experiences with other brands of rests. You giggle maniacally as you repeatedly dial in improper settings just so you can simply and precisely dial the proper settings back in. You are spellbound with watching the small setting mark glide back and forth along the horizontal and vertical gauges on the rest.

Then the final straw. After a simple installation and a few simple adjustments, you find that your shafts are flying off the rest quick and clean, are flying straight, and your groups are accurate and tight. It is now too much for you to emotionally endure. As a smile forms on your face, mentally exhausted you collapse to the ground in weakened heap.

There must be a liability for causing all this emotional stress. :)
