Bow search
 

Hello everyone:

I am new to this site and to this forum and have a question about bows. I shot archery when I was a kid but that was decades ago. I wish now to get into bow hunting. I would like your opinions on what would be a good bow to start with. I can handle at least 60 to 70 lbs. and my draw lenght is 31". I don't want to spend a ton of money in case I don't like it as much as I think I will. However, I do want a quality bow that will last years. I like the feel of the Bear Buckmaster series bows, but was told they were not that good. Any suggestion/opinions would be appreciated.

Have you been to an archery shop? If not, go there and pull and shoot all the bows they got and go from there.

sabre i had bear bows for year and they served me well
1st bow was a bear black bear=shot 2 deer
2nd was a bear whitail 2 =got several
3 was a hoyt
4th was a jenning buckmaster =got several
like dairy said go to a shop and feel and if ya can shoot a few
the most expensive bow in the world might be crap in ur hands
use whats comfortable to you.
as far as bear bows go IMO there just as good as any other....even more so for a beginer

I agree with bayfire on this issue,I love my BowTech but it might not be for you, but you need to shoot a variety of bow's to know for sure .What I'd do is test what you consider the top 3 or 4 bow's on the market ,shoot a couple of model's from each company in your price range, Then pic from there which you like the best.After that try some other model's again in the price range from some other companies, and compare them with the model you chose from the top companies. You will know what you like best .Just don't let the shop push other's on you that your not sure about you can shoot them but If your not sure if it's exactly what you like then don't buy it .Be sure the bow that you choose is your choice and not thier's. What feel's best to you may not be what feel's best to them .The idea is to get the best for your money that fit's you perfect, and no one know's better than you to which bow feel's right for you.

The Reflex Grizzly. I am by no means the Bowmaster Yoda, but I couldn't find any one who would bad mouth this bow. I believe it retails at $299.00 and it was Outdoor life best buy of 2004.

Look around and see if you can find a good bow and get a deal on the price.I got a Hoyt Magnatec from Dick's Sporting goods for only $175.It is an awesome bow for the money.Very quiet and accurate.

Sabre.....Why not try a hew Martin Sabre SE? I have a Razor X and love it....The sabre looks like a great hunting bow......
