gold tips or carbon express both very durable but i think carbon express last longer for me accept on rocks neither one performs very well

you can use your pepper spray my 12 gauge with 3 inch slugs works fine

I shot goldtips for 2 years they are very good and they are pretty strong, I've even taken more than one deer with the same arrow, but watch out becouse out of 3 dozen me and a friend bought we had only 2 dozen that tested straight. (we took back the 12 arows that were not true and got are money back)
This year I switched to Vapor 4000 aca by blackhawk and love them, but there very hard to pull out of 3-d targets but not anything a little soap won't fix.
I have not shot the ics ventures but my buddy likes them.

I shot the Beman ICS Hunters and the Camo Hunters and liked them ok but the camo wore off almost immediatly. I switched to the Gold Tip XT Hunters and love them. They seem to be pretty tough arrows. I don't have the tools to check for straightness but they fly fairly consistant for me. The XT Hunters supposedly have a tolerance of .003 inches.

P-tone, What do you use to check straightness?

I have shot gold tips, they are a very durable arrow but as mentioned not consistantly straight. If it for hunting I would say they are fine.

As P-TONE mentioned the "Vapor Blackhawks" are a great arrow. They are very durable, straight and very consistant in weight. They are well worth the effort to check them out, and the price is not to bad.

I have shot both and I like the GoldTips alot better. The beman ICS did not seem to tune very well for me.

I think its about time I tried these gold tips. Ive used the Beman ICS hunters in the past and they were very tough, and seemed to fly pretty well for me.

I'm in the same boat. I have some Easton ACC's, which I'm not to happy with by the way, since they take a set bend with that aluminum core tube, so I also want to go to an all carbon arrow as well.
JimGA is right about the Gold-Tip XT hunters, they are a much better arrow, quality wise, from the regular Gold-Tip hunter shafts. I was thinking of getting those or the Beman ICS.

Just a little story to attest to the toughness of GT's. I was paper tuning and shot a little high through the paper and the arrow passed through the edge of my backstop and hit the cinderblock wall of my basement. It rebounded off the wall and the nock side of the arrow actually stuck in the BACK of my backstop. The only damage was a missing nock. I'm still shooting the same arrow today. Great arrows for the money. IMO

Gold Tips and Beman's are both very tough shafts. I've shot a lot of target, and hunted, with both. Put four deer in the freezer last year with the same broadhead and same Beman ICS shaft (head was resharpened, arrow was refletched).

That being the case, I've seen a little more consistency in the Beamns over the Gold Tips. One other thing that bugs me about Gold Tips is that when you buy just shafts, they are disgustingly dirty. Looks like the blew a handful of carbon dust in the package with them. Too much cleaning right out of the bag.

The camo wearing off was a problem in the past with Beman ICS Camo's. However, they went to a new camo patern and application system. Thus far, it seems extremely durable.

The goldtips are lighter so you will get a little more speed from them. They also have a dull finish. The Bemans have a slicker, glossy finish. The bemans are quieter on the draw.

I used to use the goldtips , but I was having problems paper tuning with the 5575 , so I tried the Beeman ICS hunters 340's and my problem was solved , with a quiter draw. I've also noticed that out of every dozen arrows , I would have at least 3 goldtips that wouldn't pass my spin test (bare) for hunting. My Beemans all passed the spin test.

I just switched back to carbon yesterday. Got a half dozen ICS hunter 400's. Got everything lined up. Papertuned perfectly, ready to go.

I use the Gold Tip XT's and love them. I have yet to have a problem with straightness with them. I wonder, you guys that have encountered unstraight Gold Tips, were they the XT's or the hunters? Maybe I just got lucky, but it seems like the XT's are better matched.

RE: goldtip or beman

XT'S They advertize .003 straightness factor -vs- .005 for Bemans and I haven't had a problem with my Bemans yet.

HuntingBry,

I've never had a problem with straightness out of the XT's, only the regular Hunter's.
