Opinions on treestands
I am attempting to help a new bowhunter in picking out a treestand. I have Summit Viper which I highly recommend. He has also looked at treelounge, tried out a treesuit and also wants to look at a Gunslinger climber. Anyone have any good or bad to say about these. I used a Treesuit twice last year and thought portability was tops, just never quite got used to it. I have never seen a Gunslinger except on the internet. This hunter is 6 feet tall weighs about 220lb. I dont think his height or weight should be an issue with most stands just trying to get some opinions on good or bad on different stands.

I personaly am a huge summt fan. I think for overall comfort, safety, ease of use, etc you just can't beat them. With the new foot stirrups and cable lock system they are even faster and easier to use.

I love my summit goliath. I had a tree lounge and sold it after trying out a summit. If your interest in a summit there is a gent on ebay that has some really good deal on 03 and 04 models

RE: Opinions on treestands
I am very impressed with my old style tree lounge!!! If you want a climber that you can be comfortable in all day....it's the way to go. As far as noise and ease of putting up.... I always just take it to the tree the evening before and set it up, hang my rope, adjust the bow platform, and when I get there in the morning it's all ready to rock and roll!!! To each his own and I haven't tried some of the climbers others are talking about, but I sure am impressed with my tree lounge and I've seen tons more deer since I got it a few years ago. I used to use the 16 foot sticks and a stationary....not even close to the amount of deer I now see from the more elevated position. It is a very rare moment when I get winded now.
Hope this helps ya out....;) Good luck with your hunting season!!! |

I have used API, Ol' man and Summit. I just recently purchased my Summit Broadhead backpacker and I love it. It' s by the far the most comfortable and safe climber I have used. I recommend the Summit.
