Drop away rest for outback?

I fell in love with the outback bow and will be buying one soon. I was thinking of putting the new drop away quicktune rest that NAP is making. Has anyone tried them. I have never had a drop away rest before and am kind of leary. (You know old dog new tricks) Are they dependable enough for hunting?

I have an Outback on order myself...hopefully will be here this week. I'm going to go with the NAP 2000 RG and see how it works. I guess thats all you can do really....try and try again till you get what you want and like. Wish you test drive products for 100 shots or so. I would also like to hear feedback from others who have tried this rest.

I tried one for about 5 minutes on my LX last year ! It may not be all that bad to some.......but it was too noisy for me !

Thanks bigdaddybh, That was another one I was thinking about. I was worried about it dropping straight down instead of dropping away. Have you shot with that rest in cold weather. I'm from Louisiana but I am going hunting in Kansas next year and it might snow.

Don't be worried at all!! I've shot outside into my garage this past winter. Temps were around 0. NO PROBLEMS. This is a very easy rest to get into tune as well. You will probably find that you need to be a bit nock high. Good luck in Kansas.

I've used the Trap Door on a Legacy, LX and now my Outback without any problems at all. Best of all, no strings or cables attached to the bow.

I have the Muzzy zero effect on my Outback and it works great. I have hunted with the standard zero effect on a Parker and a Bowtech and it worked flawless. I can't think of a better rest for hunting and I have tried a lot:). Don

I will second the trap door. Had it on my last three bows and have had no problems.

doninva, how far is the hook of the rest from your riser?

it looks like mine may be making contact with my riser .

RE: Drop away rest for outback?

POOREBOY, where is the hook hitting your riser. Is it when the rest goes up and down and hitting at the back of the riser or is it hitting the side. I have never heard of one hitting but let me know and maybe we can figure it out. Don

I use the NAP 2000 RG on my Outback without any problem or noise? I've shot it close to a 1000 times and won't go back to the prong type rest. This set up is great! Good luck with whatever you choose.

doninva, i think the hook is hitting the back of the riser, it is about 3/8 of a inch away from the riser but i am going to get some carbon paper to verify today .

I have no experience with the NAP dropaways but would recommend trying the TR Dropzone. Nice, durable design with alot of refinements. I have set up several for customers down at the shop and none have offered any complaints about the design.

Here's another vote for the Trophy Ridge Drop Zone. This awesome rest has performed flawlessly for me on the range and in the field, an excellent fallaway design that WILL improve your game. Check one out.

I have a Vital Bow Gear - Ultimate fallaway rest on my LX and my buddy has one on his Outback. Great rest!

Check out the GKF TKO Dropaway.

about 1/2 the price of others with 3X the features.

See 5 Shots review.

I like a lightweight, bulletproof rest loaded with features.
This is it.
