rubber boots....what's your favorite
I'm looking to get some rubber boots for bow hunting. I want to make my first purchase a good one and not learn by "trial and error" like I usually do.
I want comfort first, something I can wear all day. My feet do get cold fast also so warmth is a consideration. Any input would be greatly appreciated...........thanks guys |
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
I purchased the LaCross Alpha Burly Sports last fall and loved them. They have a running shoe type sole and are very comfortable and light. They are made of a neoprene and lined with fleece. I used them in temps down to about 20 degrees and my feet did start to get a little cold, but would be perfect in a little warmer weather. I believe the Alpha series is being made this year in a warmer Thinsulate model, so I may buy another pair in the 1000gram model for the cold stuff. They are the most comfortable rubber boots I have ever worn. I have herd that Muck Boots are great also, but have never tried them.

Make that 2 votes for the LaCrosse Burly's. Very warm and comfortable. The thing I like most about them is that they fit snug around the ankle. They also have an adjustment strap around the calf, so you can snug them up. I wouldn't wear anything else.

I have a pair of bone dry, a red head brand i think. They have 1000 grams of thinsulate and were reasonably priced. I like them very much

RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
If you are looking to get comfortable and warm boots, why do they have to be rubber in the first place?
|
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
I just picked up some Lacrosse Burly ATS 800 gram thinsulate boots during last ML season. Only had a few hunts with them, my season got cut short due to a death in the family. I'll be putting some more miles on them this turkey season tho...

RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
I wore a pair of burlys for years and years, but am now sold on muck boots. Easiest pair of rubber boots to put on and pull off that I have ever seen.
|
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
Northerners have treated me well. When I did alot of flyfishing back east, I would only buy their hipboots, I found out that they made a rubber hunting boot, I bought a pair, and now will never buy anthing else. They are warm and the rubber lasts for years.
|
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
Muck Boots are by far the most comfortable boots I've ever owned.
|
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
I'll second that for Muck Boots. A little $$$ but worth it.

RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
LACROSSE ALPHA BURLY. Uninsulated with the felt line will keep you warm above 32 degrees and doesnt get hot on warmer days.
The neoprene and rubber mix makes for a strong, lightweight boot. Highly recommend them. $69.95 at Bass Pro. [link]http://www.basspro-shops.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=49243&hvarTarget=search& cmCat=SearchResults[/link] ![]() |
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
Muck boots get my vote. Not great for scent control, but EXTREMELY comfortable and VERY easy to get on and off.
|
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
i bought rocky buck stalkers about 2 years ago. they are great!:D they feel like tennis shoes. well worth it.
|
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
I dont think you can beat the alphaburly for early season hunting, they are very soft and comfortable.
|
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
thanks for the help guys. I'm leaning towards the lacrosse alfa burly or the burly sport. The burly sport seem to have the better all day comfort support. I'll probably go with those.

RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
I have the Cabelas Comfort tracs in 800 thinsulate. they are an awesome set of rubber boots.
|
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
Lacrosse Burly's do a good job for me........but as to my favorite :
LeChameau Chausser's ;) !! But $365 for a pair of rubber boots has always given me sticker shock [:o] .........maybe one day !! :D |
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
I like moccasins

The Lacrosse's were great for me too until this year. Now, after only two years of wear and finished basement storage, the rubber has cracked through near the toe where it flexes the most. I'm kind of dissappointed in them now.
My neighbor has a pair of Muck boots and he loves them. They're made of a different rubber compound that doesn't look like it'll break through in the same way. He's also praised how comfortable they are. |
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
I've had burly 1200's for quite a few years now. Love em. And they've barely worn out.
|
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
RUBBER Boot. I use the cheapest pair I can find at Wal-mart. Buy a second pair larger for more wool socks when it gets cooler. They give me 3 - 4 years of year round service. Less than $20 a pair:eek:

I got my Rocky Buckstalkers w/ 1000 grams of Thinsulite on Ebay. Got them delivered New in Box and all tags still there for $32. Can't beat it. I like them. I've never tried the LaCrosse's yet. I've heard great things about them.
The Rocky's are great, but they do get a little bunched up at the angles. Kind of annoying on a long walk. Used them down to about 15 degrees with no cold feet at all which was nice. anything colder I break out the winter boots. J |

are the alpha burleys a pain in the a$$ to get off? i have a pair of lacrosse now that i have not used in 2 years cuz its a major pain to take off. if you hunt 3-4 days in a row, you dont want to be wasting time breaking a sweat trying to take off a boot. ive been using rocky rubbber boots now--but it will be time for a new pair soon. i usually only get 1 season out of each pair anyway.
will the muck boots tear if you go thru briars? i think that was the boot i saw at the sportsman show in pa. |
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
Lacrosse Alpha Burly's. Great boot
|
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
i purchased red head bone dry last year with 1000 grams in thin....they worked very well and they were priced very well, However i did not hunt with them in temp below freezing, so not really sure how warm they would be.
|
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
For the last 4 or 5 years I wore Istaca scent free 200gr thinsalate, keep the feet warm all year, and in the spring nice and cool, very comfy on long walks, easy to get on and off picked em up at Dicks for 50$. my feet get cold real easy but not with those. real good boot.
|
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
i use lacrosse burly 800's when its cold, and lacrosse grange when its hot. they are both great boots. as far as the warmth goes i can sit all day in the cold with my burly's and my feet stay good and warm. but if i was you i would buy a boot dryer b/c wet boots=cold feet

Check out http://www.muckbootcompany.com/
I bought a pair of Muck Boots from Farm and Fleet last year for $40. They have a rubber sole and 5mm neoprene on the rest. Super warm and very quiet. These boots are tons cheaper than name brand camo boots that do the same thing. I am quite happy with mine. |
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
Don't know the exact brand but picked up a pair from Galyans this past winter. $29 (on super sale)
600 grams of thinsulate and "air bob" style soles. Spend a few weekends shooting sporting clays this winter, they worked great. I think they were $69 regularily. |
RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
Lacross is the way to go, I have seen deer follow foot prints of regular boats and the deer walked right over my rubber boat and had no idea that I crossed there. Lacross make all kinds of different insolated rubber boats. Mine area 800 and I still wear them in November in MN, sometimes I have to wear extra layer of socks.

RE: rubber boots....what's your favorite
Why rubber? Boy you obviously never lived in the South. Why in Louisiana , we have water whose favorite food is leather. Have you ever hunted in an area where the average depth of water was at least a foot a far as the eye can see? Get yourself a pair of LaCrosse boots, prefably insulated. You will love 'em even in a Kansas snow storm and if you ever go to Gods country, you can even use them there.

Rocky buck stalkers are the most warm and comfotable, I love em:D
