Matthews Ovation
I got a chance to shoot the new Ovation this afternoon at my local pro shop. I must say that I am totaly impressed with this bow. There is virtually no hand shock with this bow. I have a 32" draw and the bow pulled 74lbs., very smooth draw and I didn't think that the bow pulled 74lbs. Felt like low 60s. I have a 2001 Matthews Conquest II and a 2003 Hoyt protec with spiral cams, to me the new Matthews is smoother than both (expected of Spiral cam Hoyt) and I was realy amazed at the lack of shock when I shot the bow. I am hoping to try a Bowtech Pro 40 with freedom cam at Harrisburg this week and compare the two. As of now the dealer has the Ovation set aside for me until I get back. Beleive me the bow was this smooth.

RE: Matthews Ovation
Where are you located? I was asking my local proshop about the Ovation. They called Mathews directly and were told they couldn't even get a date they would be available. Seemed like they weren't producing them yet?? Oviously they must be. Something seems weird here.

RE: Matthews Ovation
bigdaddybowhunter,
I live in Northwestern NJ. I also was at the harrisburg show yesterday and they have two Ovations there for anyone to shoot at the Mathews booth. I also got to look at the Bowtech pro 40 FC. I felt the draw cycle of both bows were very close. Recoil was basically non existent in either bow. But the Ovation just feels better for me. So I am picking mine up this Friday. One point, the Bowtech is cheaper than the Mathews by about $70.00 where I live. Bmott |
