Which broadheads should i get????
 

hi
i am getting ready for deer season but i dont know what type of broadheads ti get. i would appreciate it if you guys/girls could lend me a hand in choosing by

1. what type of broadhead you recommend
2. have you killed ne thing useing them
3. how far did the animal travel after being hit by the broadhead
4. which type of broadhead do you prefer standard or mechanical

what are you shooting??? impossible to know the answers to some of your questions w/o knowing the bow, draw weight, length, arrow speed or close, etc.

i myself would reccomend a thunderhead. i have killed deer and elk using these with excellent results. i believe that i could kill any hoofed animal on the planet with a good quality razor sharp thunderhead.

i love my muzzys 100 grain 3 blade.shot my first bow kill just a few weeks ago. it was a doe. she only went 45 yards and she was down.good blood trail.

go deep hunt hard.;)

as a hunter you got to know when to strike fast.

I am using Rocket Ultimate Steel 125s. I have not bagged a deer yet, but I know for a fact that these will kill a turkey quick. ;)

Without knowing the details of your setup, I can only recomend fixed blade heads. These are some of my favorites and in no order. Muzzy' s, Rocky Ti' s, Montecs, Magnus stingers, Wasp hammers and boss bullets, Rocky Traditions and thunderheads. All of these heads are excellent and do the job. I know I left out several other quality heads, but you get the picture. Choose a quality multi-blade, fixed blade head and tune your bow well. Keep the blades sharp and put the head on the mark and you will recover your game.

i shoot a SQ2 68 lbs, and bemen 1cs hunters 300. with a drop away rest and copperjohn bow sight


i am shooting like 255 fps right now

I am also shooting an SQ2 Great little bow huh?. Carbon Express and PSE' s through a Wisker Biskett. Anyway, I agree with all advise so far, but I would not be afraid to try mechanical heads. They shoot just like my field points. I shot GameTraker EXP 100 first cut' s through 3 deer, and just got a doe with Rocket Steelhead 100 (make sure the Steelheads will screw into your inserts,they are too short for some arrows) , but still have two EXP' s in the quiver and have a lot of confidence in them. I used to shoot Muzzys but hated to resight-in during the fall after shooting field points. My Muzzy' s would shoot about 3" left and 3" down.

Shot a doe the other day with a Muzzy 100 3 blade. This was the first harvest with these heads - used to use mechanicals. The deer just fell over right when I hit her. The arrow came out through the shoulder on the other side so I got great penetration. This is my new broadhead of choice.
