Schwacker Broadheads

Has any one usded these for deer? I shoot 57 LBS and wonder about penetration.

Been pretty happy with mine. They fly great, and I've killed a fair number of deer with them. 57#, 30" DL.

Yes. I have and I have shot many different broad heads over my 26 years of bow hunting and in my opinion they are the best broad heads on the market and they are my choice of heads until something changes my mind.

i prefer to shoot fixed, but if i were to switch to mechanical, i would go with schwacker.

I'm curious about the design. I don't see penetration as a problem. What does concern me is if you don't get and exit hole. Does the Schwacker open up after entry? To me it looks like it opens up after going through the hide. Inquiring minds want to know?????????????

I have noticed that a lot of bow hunters on TV have been using them.

If you are wondering if it cuts a hole on the entry side the answer is yes it does just like the exit side.

Thanks browtine - that's what I was wondering.

I was impressed with the Schwacker Broadhead Science Video Part 1 I watched on an outdoor channel.

Link if your interested. The block penetration was rather impressive.

Well I did watch that video and it appears that the blades DO NOT deploy until after entering the body cavity. So that means that the entrance is about 1/2" or so wide. And with no pass thru, even with devastating results inside the animal, you may not have a very good blood trail. Especially on a high hit like from a tree stand.

All I can say is you need to try them and YOU WILL BE IMPRESSED. I guess maybe I m just shooting little body deer but a pass thru is not a problem. LOL
