crossbow help/reviews
Finally we can use crossbows in Illinois. Only the second part of the season Dec 3-Jan 30. But my question is what is a decent crossbow for under 700$. Or just input on crossbows in general.

I really like my Excalibur Equinox, which does not meet your price requirement, but I think Excalibur make some less expensive models. A recurve crossbow can be de-cocked by hand and are supposed to be low-maintenance.

I shoot a Barnett Ghost 350...which is really light / well balanced for a crossbow...and fast!
I have to double back archery targets, and I purchased an arrow puller...mine was right at $500 with a 4x compensating illuminated scope... |
Have had a Ten Point and have a Parker Tornado. Both very good. Avoid Horton for now. Temprarily folded. Plans to undergoing a major change and be back 2014.

I have an Excalibur Vortex. Absolutely thrilled with it.

After reading this article from Field and Stream, http://www.fieldandstream.com/photos...s-whole-season I bought the Carbon Express Covert cx1, I just got it last week, shot it several times, I really like it. I shot it 50 yards today, dead on.

I have a Parker Tornado and the Carbon Express Covert. Both are good crossbows but the edge goes to Parker.

I would go with a Ten Point or a Wicked Ridge made by Ten Point. Also you can't beat their customer service.:patriot:

I might be mistaken but recurve crossbows can be cocked all day. Some if not all compound crossbows have to be shot after 4-6 hours. A dry fire safety is a good thing to have.
