Is my new bow any good?
I picked up a barely used Browning Fusion with a bow case, cobra pin sights, and a dozen new arrows. The bow is set at 70 lbs, and 65% let off. What' s this setup worth? Is the bow any good? What is better for accuracy/performance mechanical or conventional broadheads? Any help you guys can give would be appreciated.

RE: Is my new bow any good?
Sounds a little heavy of draw to start with. other than that, the bow is perfectly fine.
Mech heads offer easier tunning...but you shouldn' t SKIP tuning just cause you got mech heads. Modern ones kill deer dead. Fixed blades offer peice of mind KNOWING the blades are " open" from the start. Both penetrate and both can kill deer quickly and cleanly, and leave a good blood trail. Shoot what you like. |
RE: Is my new bow any good?
Did you really tell him to SKIP tuning? I hope you meant that he SHOULD NOT Skip tuning. If you don' t know how to tune your bow, take it to a shop and have them help you. You can also ask questions here and you will get help.

That bow will kill deer just fine!..........If you prepare...........shoot, shoot and shoot some more. Practice with your broadheads, practice from your treestand, practice with your full hunting clothes on, Know your 100% kill shot range and stick to it! Practice and have fun!!!!

RE: Is my new bow any good?
Any bow will do the job. Its like others here have mentioned; tune, practice, practice, and then practice somemore.
I shot my first deer many years ago with a black bear. One of the first compound bows. It was loud, very little let off, and very primative cosidered to todays standards. The key is practice. Any bow will do the job, you just have to know it and feel comfortable with it. If you think about it, long bows and recurves have been taking game for years. |
