New to bow huntin

I'm lookin for a compound bow. I hunt whitetail in southern Ohio. I'm not to familiar with usin a bow. Shot one a couple times. But don't know what to get for sure. I'm close to 5'10. Not sure what my draw length is. If yall got any tips or input. Please help me out before the season starts!

Thanks

o man your gonna have a blast , the first thing i did when i started was went to a family owned archery shop ( i believe you get more 1 on 1 in smaller shops) and just started shooting different bows they set up for me, then i took some of their advice on the various equipment for the bow, i settled for a mathews switchback xt and still use it today. the best advice i can give you especially this close to season is practice, practice, practice. Bowhunting is an art that takes alot of patience. Hope this helped, good luck and give em the shaft.

pick one in your price range that feels good in your hands , The bow is only as accurate as the shooter behind the bow no matter what price it costs , You cant go wrong with most anything you pick out now a days , I always suggest you pick out a midrange bow to start with good accessories , like all aluminum sight, no plastic junk , and a good drop away rest like a limb driver or trophy taker rest , remember if you want to upgrade bows later you can still use these accessories on the next bow .

pure havoc is right, dont get caught up in the best in the business stuff with these high dollar bows. I have seen guys outshoot z7's with basic mission bows at 3d shoots. It all comes down to how much time you spend behind the bow. good luck again and keep us posted on your decisions and progress.;)

Either one is a great bow , Im a bowtech guy myself but the bow madness XS is a excellent cheap $$ hunting bow , I wouldnt say the assassin is loud , its by no means the quietest bow but not the loudest either ,if the timing on the cams arent right form the start it will be loud , and thats what could have been with someone elses bow . I have been impressed with the bow madness since it came out several yrs ago , thats got to be one of PSE's best selling bows , your not going to get the speed of the assassin with the madness but dont get all wrapped up in that either , go somewhere and shoot them both , if someone wants to sell you a bow they will let you shoot them both . just pick the one that feels best in your hand and when drawn back , smooth draw cycle , no humps and lets down easily .
heres how I pick them and in this particular order 1} how it feels in my hand ,2} quiet, 3} accuracy
If it doesnt feel good in your hand your not going to be confident in the bow every shot and your not going to be as accurate as you could be with a more comfortable feeling bow , quietness well that one explains itself ,I own a Bowtech general and its one of the quietest bows ever made , first shot with it I had to look at it and make sure the arrow was gone when I pulled the trigger . LOL . I have owned most of the big name bows out there and none this quiet , its not a screamer by any means in the speed dept , but I would rather have a slower quiet bow that a loud barn burner anyday . Once again shoot them both and pick from what I have told you and dont play the speed game you will thank yourself later . OH the grip on the madness is thinner than the assassin but they both feel good
Good luck
Scott

Both are very respectable bows, pse has come a long way in recent years and have become very popular, but i still think your best bet is to shop around and hell shoot em all, hoyt, pse, bowtech, diamond, mission, mathews, all make good bows and everybody loves one or the other. I personally am a mathews fan and the next guy that posts will be a fan of another. Most archery shops are more than willing to let you try out any bow you like, so try them all then make a decision based on what you felt and your budget, a bow is one of the most personalized items you will ever own.

I can't think you guys enough for this help! I shot the assassin and hoyt rampage today. Like both. The Hoyt is a bit heavier but both felt good. Liked the assassin best in my hand tho. Only shot about 8 yards away so don't really know about the accuracy
