Chippewa lockon stands
 

Have any of you tried these stands? I got the free video yesterday and these seem like very good stands. A little pricey though. The attachment system is what interests me. They also seem more sturdy than most stands without having to use a stabilizer t-screw. If you havent seen them, check out their website.

I just noticed TWO BEARDS reply to another thread about these stands. Says he likes them. Anyone else use these?

I have not used them, but seen them in person and they are very nice. The way they mount, is great...but the price [:o][:o]
I can' t justify spending that kind of $ on 1 hang on stand. I wish someone would come out with something similar, but reasonbly priced.

I bought one last year from several reccomendations from people on this site. I ABSOLUTELEY LOVE IT !!!!! I have another on order right now and 6 extra chains. They work just as the video and website say. In 10 second its on and rock solid. I mean ROCK solid! The platform leveling system is awsome ....maybe 2 or 3 seconds! Having the extra chains is great so you can have multiple stand locations ready and you don' t have to worry about anyone stealing your stand. (except your buddies who' ll want one) Four of the guys in my hunting group now own them or will have them by hunting season. 100% quality! I have the original Chippewa Wedge Loc stand and I ordered a slightly bigger Chief model.
I probably sound like I work for the company. I don' t, I' m just dam happy with this product and want to share my findings with the rest of you on this site. Anyone using hang-on stands will not be dissappointed!!!!!!!!!!

I got the video, and did the comparison. It' s heavier, bulkier, and more expensive than other stands that quickly attach to brackets. I thought the Lone Wolf bracket stand was a much better design.

Cloud 9- It' s nice to hear from someone else that' s
used the Chippewa stands:)....I' ve used them for
3-4 years now. I know what you mean about
sounding like a sales rep[&:], tough to get hunters
to try a product that costs so much without actually
giving it a try themselves....but, they really
are a awesome product;)[:-]. Everyone I' ve
shown my stands to, ( which includes all my hunting
partners and several other friends) have eventually
purchased a Chippewa stand....and they all love
' em:D.

I' ve got both the Wedge-Loc & the Chief, the
platforms are the same size. The Wedge-Loc
weighs 15 lbs. w/a 400 lb. wgt. limit and the
Chief weighs 9 1/2 lbs. w/a 220 lb. wgt. limit.

Patapsco Mike- I' m going to have to disagree with
you, I' ve owned the LW stand (I still use the LW
climbing sticks) and though it' s a decent stand,
it' s not of the same quality as the Chippewa' s.
I really think if you had a chance to use one of
the Chippewa' s you would agree, a video really
doesn' t do the stands justice. As I mentioned
above, the Chief only weighs 9 1/2 lbs, so it' s
not heavier...and I don' t see how it' s bulkier?
I know it' s every bit as solid as the LW, more
comfortable, and easier to hang.

The chief has a platform size of 20 x 25, the Lone Wolf is 20x30- that' s a big difference. Plus, the Chief can only go in trees 18" in diameter and smaller- whereas the Lone Wolf can fit trees up to 22" - again a subtle but substantial difference. While one pound heavier, the LW packs to 4" thick, whereas the Chief packs to 8" . The extra brackets for the LW are $13, the Chief was around $20 (from memory- this could be wrong but I remember they were considerably more). The LW is rated for 300 lbs, the Chief for only 220. It just seemed that although I did think the locking system of the Chippewas was very well designed, overall it was more money for a less versitile stand.
