Plastic or feathers?
Well I have purchased a QUEST "smoke" package which came with a WhiskerBisket rest. Which type of arrows would be best? Plastic vanes or feathers?
Also, what are some recommendations for arrows? and broadheads? I am shooting a 65lb pull with 28" draw Carbon Express arrows? 250's? 350,s? Fixed or mechanical broadheads? Game that will be hunted is whitetail, mule deer and elk. |
I prefer feathers myself but I use a QAD rest on the compound and shoot my trad bows off the shelf. With a WB rest you might be better off with plastic just for the durability.I'd suggest Blazers.

A WB will beat up feathers pretty good, however I have never observed that the flight characteristics of the arrow changed that much. Your fletching just looks like they had a tangle with a lawnmower.
The Blazers are a good vane for sure, I have shot them on my hunting arrows for 3 or 4 years. There are others as well that have a similar profile and weight as the Blazers that will do equally as well. Shooting a WB with vanes I would also try to stick to either a harder material (Blazers) or one that holds it's shape very well (flex fletch). I have seen too many guys with Duravanes that get all wrinkled up after being shot through the WB for awhile. |
check out this link... very informative on vanes vs feathers..

in my experiences if you use feathers they work fine because they lay down but plastics do last alot longer but will tear up your WB after about a year
