I have never seen a shot from a rage not have great penatration and do massive damage. If you have good shot placement they always go down rather quickly and leave beautiful blood trails but people seem to not like them

When I was trying to decide on a mechanical I made my final decision based on rage's own commercial. This was when they first came out but the commercial showed several deer hit where I would expect a complete pass through yet the deer ran off with the arrow hanging out on the entry side. I do not hate them but I have never used one based on those commercials

The one and only shot that I took at a deer with a rage broadhead, was at a buck at about a 60 degree angle going away at about 35 yards. All I know is the broadhead skated off his ribs and stuck in the ground. Not a fan.

its like anything if a few folks have a bad experience, they post it every where,m and that then gets the band wagon playing
and will soon make a small percentage of unhappy folks seem like a HUGE number of them
bad experiences get passed about a LOT more than good one's

there are so many people today and SO many products out there
buy and just use what ever YOU like, and don't worry about what others say or think
NOT sure when it happened, but it sure seems folks today get so worked up over words on a screen about opinions!!

the facts are, ANY broad head put in the vitals will kill, stick ANY one ion a non vital area, and odds are you will have a deer that may NOT be found or recovered
NOTHING to do with the brand of the head, but shot placement
YET I am sure many will blame the head, the bow, the release or what ever product saying if they USED "X": instead, things would have been different
so few today take credit for there own mistakes, , and rather blame something else for them ! LOL

I totally agree with the last 3 posters. I've used Rage broadheads for the past 6 years and have killed 6 buck. All were complete pass throughs and none went more than 40 yards. I was always skeptical about mechanical broadheads but Rage has a very good one in their 2 blade design. I've heard of a few reports where the 3 blade design did not always open fully upon impact. I cannot deny or confirm these claims.
I've used fixed blade designs that were also deadly and quick killing and I've also had fixed blades do exactly the same thing that Wingbone above described. What I like about Rages is that on a marginal hit toward the back it still does a lot of damage. As for hitting a shoulder blade I still see it blasting through and causing significant internal damage without passing through. And even with a one sided wound it will leave a good blood trail.
I would say that anyone who uses a Rage, or any mechanical, use sufficient draw weight to jet the job done. I would not shoot any mechanical using less than 50# draw. But that's a personal limitation.
Some designs like the Shwacker which do not deploy until entry IMO are horrible and I would not recommend them to anyone.

Thanks to Rage. This is why I like them. I had this 8 point come past my shooting lane while looking at a lesser buck he was following by about 20 yards. I found a spot with about a 6"-8" opening at what I guessed to be 30 yards and when he stepped into it I let the arrow fly. I could see my nockturnal sticking in a tree and 2 tails bouncing thru the woods.
Not sure if I hit I waited about 5 mins and got down out of my stand. Walking up to my artow it was soaked with blood. Norrnally with a Rage you have an immediate blood trail. Not the case here. I surmised I made either a high hit or a very low one. I went to the truck and radioed my buddy. We started tracking about 45 mins after the hit. Followed the tracks for 10 yards,until we saw first blood. Another 10 yards and a lot more blood. After another 10 or so it was spraying on trees and ground. I looked ahead and saw the white belly. He traveled about 75 yards total. I had hit him back a bit far and high but cut the major arteries under the spine that supply the hind legs. Had I not been using Rage I likely still would have recovered him but it would have taken a while longer. Or it could have been possible that a lesser broadhead may have missed the artery all together?

This is what a rage did to my doe on the opening morning. Complete pass through, I saw my bolt sticking in the ground with the knock lit up right after I released the arrow from my cross bow. A easy blood trail to follow and blood sprayed on a tree where the deer was hit. She went about 25-30 yards in a half circle and died about 20 yards from where I hit he and I found her on a path within spitting distance of my ATV. took the heart and lungs.
