Gorilla Kong treestand

Yesterday I purchased the Gorilla Kong, the price was right ($79.99) and I have heard goodthings about them. I put it together today and was pleasently surprised how simple the process was and how quit it was. I tried it out in a maple in my yard, getting it strapped into the tree was a difficult process beceause you have to hold the stand up while you strap it in and tighten it. When all was said and done I was pleased with it. Does any one own one or have any advice for them?

Can't beat them for the money. I have 4 of them. Easiest way I have found to set them up is leave the stand on the ground and climb up the tree with a rope tied to the stand. Get to desired height and set your safety harness so you hang where you want the stand. Keep your feet against the tree and let your harness support you freeing up both hands to set the stand.

I have two of the hang on stands also. I go ahead and put up my strap-on ladder to the tree using my linemans harness,i then tie a rope above this spot and let it hang to the ground. then add a pruisit knot to the tree rope, attach your stand to the pruisit knott and let the rope support the stand as you go up tree to install.

I have about 6-8 of the Gorillas. For me they are great hangons. I have some of the silvers which are great for longer hikes. I have never had a problem with them and over the years they have served me wonderfully.

Definetly give more thought to hanging them easier. I think I have soem of those, strong stands and the weight to go with them.

I have two, and wish I had more. They are great stands for the money, and always quiet.
