FOB???

What is everyones take on FOB's, just curious as to how many are using them, and for those who are what do you like about them, and what do you dislike about them...and also what drop away are you using when you are shooting FOB's.

RE: FOB???

I just ordered three tubes of FOBs. Gonna get some things done to my bow and try them out.

I'll be using either a QAD or the trophy taker i have on my desk.

check these two links out. Lots of info on the messageboard about rest setup and testimonials.

Ill let you know what i think when i actually get to use them.

You can also go to archerytalk.com/vb and search for "fobs" You'll get lots of info. People that use them tend to fall in love and people the have never used them tend to bash them. You know the drill..............

RE: FOB???

I went witht he Ripcord Fallaway...
and I really do like it, after using a WB all of these years...
I am going to go ahead and order some FOB's I will just have to do some self testing to see if they are for me.

RE: FOB???

the guys at fob-nation say that once you shoot them, it's all over. The only people that don't stay wih them ore the ones that either have to change there knock point or don't want to fool with making sure everything is clearing the FOB.

cruise around the FOB forum you'll learn alot about FOBs. Some of the videos are pretty amazing also.

FOBs can end up costing you money for arrows ...........

I love my FOBs! They are right, once you go FOB you will never look back. I shoot G5 Expert II rest on both of my bows.

I also shoot FOB's! They are everything you read on Starrflight.com and then some!! You pick any broadhead you want to shoot and it will fly! They were designed to guide large fixed blade heads. Paul (the designer) is a rocket engineer, so I would put money down that he knows a little about fast flying objects!! :)

I have smashed broadheads between big rocks--taken off blades...and just about anything you could imagine to try and throw them off and they still hit the X!

I tried the and did not like them. I shot awesome groups with them and were starting to cost money because I kept breaking them. Then I put the slick tricks on them. 20 yrds grouped with field points, 30 yrds again grouped with field points. At 40 yrds there was about a 12 inch drop. WTF. So I fletched 3 arrows with blazers and shot those with my slick tricks. Grouped with the field points. Even at 50 yards they still grouped with the field points. Needless to say I decided not to go with FOBS. I also thought they were too loud in flight. Not for everyone. They were fun to shoot though.

MoNoFletch 08-22-2009 07:59 PM

The Fob's seem loud because of the air decompressing and is all in the rear. There have been a lot of research done on this.
As far as your drop at 40..you got me. I am just fine out to 70. I would guess it is your arrow and FOC or bow tune... Not busting your chops, just guessing. I am shooting 437 grain arrow @ 296.

FOB's

Seems like a wonderful invention for the country club hunters.

I probably save some money, doing it the old way with vanes.

MoNoFletch 08-24-2009 02:35 PM

If you want to give them a try send me a pm! I have a few test kits laying around!

MOhunter46 08-24-2009 03:10 PM

Can someone tell me how wide they are? Im shooting a 101st and its sometimes tough to get clearance.(Its tough with blazers anyway) I wouldnt mind trying them, but i would rather know they work before buying some.

MoNoFletch 08-25-2009 04:04 AM

They are just shy of 3 Blazer's on a standard size arrow..1 116" I believe....don't quote me though

live2Draw 08-25-2009 08:06 AM

they are actually cheaper. lol

cobrican 07-26-2010 12:45 PM

I like the FOB. It makes a little noise as it cuts the wind, but nothing to worry about. I was shooting it off a New Breed Nemesis with the new QAD drop away rest. The arrow flew great. I took some long shots across the wind and had great arrow flight. Neat product.

m9a9g9i9c 08-02-2010 10:26 AM

I have a mixed quiver, 3 blazered arrows and two FOB's. The only thing I need to do is make my Dloop a little longer because of the rigid FOB changing my anchorpoint.
I shoot the FOB's mostly at 3D at different ranges, the blazers are for target practice and grouping.
I still haven't decided on what I'm gonna use for hunting tho'....

But they do exactly what they advertise !

Bernie P. 08-03-2010 11:13 AM

A guy from another forum sent me a couple to try.I haven't talked with the guy that setup my bow yet so they're just waiting until I find out what changes need to be made.Hopefully this week I'll be able to try them and get back s to how they compare.
