Difference between Bowtech and Diamond Bows

I know the Admiral probably has better cams and maybe higher quality parts, but has anyone shot both and felt or seen the difference? The only reason I am thinking about the Ice Man over the Admiral is because i have saved up a lot of money on my Cabelas card and am looking for a new bow that i can buy with my points. Cabelas doesn't carry the Bowtech line, but they do carry the Diamond Bows. Any help would be great. Maybe i should be looking at a Hoyt instead of a Diamond!!

i don't know for sure if this is the actual difference or not, but i know that bowtech bows are all binary cam systems or something similiar, whereas diamond bows are all solocams except for one. I think it is just the two different lines with different names, but really made by the same company. I'm not garunteeing this is the real reason though, Just my opinion.

BowTech bows do have the top of the line in Technology. The Binary cams for one. The Diamond line does have one Center Pivot Bow in the lineup this year.

I prefer the Binarys when it comes right down to it, but that doesn't mean you will. Shoot them all and then make up your mind!;)

Don't overlook the Ross Carnivores either. They have Hybrid Cams, and Smooth is an understatement. Schweet!!:D

Same company just different styles of bow. Diamond line was purchased by Bowtech. For the most part Bowtech has been Binary cam bows. and Diamond has beenone cam. But 09' has brought change to the lineup, Picked upRoss bows and changed some of the bows in the line that were already in production, and added several new bows to both sides of the line. There areBinary cam Diamonds now.The IceMan is going to be my next bow I belive, I just bought my wife a Justice (Diamond) and my son a 82nd airborne (Bowtech). They make a fine quality line, and customer service is really good.

The ONLY difference between the two lines is BowTechs utilize the binary cams, while the Diamond line employs single cams. That's it.

Same manufacturing lines, same CNC machines, same 60601 aluminum risers, same everything.

The Diamond line is NOT an inferior line or second-tier player in terms of quality to the BowTech line.

I think Greg hits the nail on the head.... The Diamond line has some awesome shooting bows!

I just set up a Diamond Nitrous and it is the smoothest, most quiet, shock free bow I have ever owned and I have had em all.

I hear ya about that Cabelas Visa. Those points come in handy. ;)

As the other guys stated, there is no difference in terms of quality/construction, etc... between the Bowtechs and the Diamonds. The cam design is the only real difference.

Who should use a binary cam bow and who should use a single cam bow?

I like a bow which comes up to peak draw weight pretty quickly and then gradually drops as I continue to draw the bow back until it gets to the letoff point, one that stays in tune, forgiving to my lousy shooting form.

nwtrykon87 12-12-2009 07:30 AM

i have personally shot the new ice man and the admiral.. and shot IMO is not dicernable but the draw cylce is EXTREMELY ruff on the ice man IMO when compared to the admiral or other bows like hoyt and mathews. with that said.. its not something that i think i couldnt get used to after shooting it a few times.. but when i look for a bow to buy i dont look at price i look for a bow that speaks to me. price is not an option for me when buying. hope that helps.. if anything go shoot the bow.. and if you dont like it.. buy another bow and use all your points for the accessories and go a-wall on it lol

That's up the personal preference. No real characteristic of a person that determines which cam system they will like. Only way to know is to shoot them both and decide then. I prefer the draw cycle and SOLID back wall of the binary type cams.

As Per Greg's Reply
As what Greg said earlier in this thread, the only other difference is the draw is a lot smoother because of the single cam and easier to draw because of the single cam. It does loose about 17fps also compared to it's brother the Admiral. That's what I found as I shoot the Iceman, hope that helps ya!

I shot the Iceman and Admiral and decided on the Iceman. I think the Iceman is a quieter bow and a little less jump, but not much of a difference.

As far as the draw cycle being rough, I don't feel that now that the bow has a couple of thousand arrows through it. I only felt it on occasion right after I bought it, but it was barely discernable to me.

kldad06 12-15-2009 01:21 PM

I have shot both and the solo cam is my personal preference. I really like the breakover on a solo cam where as most of the dual cam bows IMO do not have the same point. Now that being said I tend to shoot better groups when practicing with the dual cam, but I didn't like it while hunting. But that is just my opinion
