Bowtech Sniper or Ross Cardiac?

I'm lookin to purchase a new bow soon, i had shot the Diamond Justice at gander mountain, and it was nice, but i recently found the Bowtech Sniper pkg for about 600 and Gander Mtn has the Ross Cardiac pkg for 650... I havent shot either as i can't find a place around me that has them, but i really like the way they look, i have watched numerous videos on both at Huntersfriend.com, but i was wondering if anyone has shot either and which they prefer, i know it is a matter of personal opinion, but i am just wondering other peoples opinions, especially on the single cam of the cardiac vs. the binary cam of the bowtech, the binary cam seems quieter in the videos i saw... any input would be great! Thanks

The ross is a very smooth drawing bow that is for sure. Binary cam bows for the most part are what you would call "harsh". I havent shot the sniper yet, but i imagine this still applies. It may not be that bad, but it will be stiffer to draw than the ross.

really? i dunno why but for some reason i would have thought the binary cams would make it more smooth of a drawback? huntersfriend talks about a silky smooth draw, i need to find a place that has the ross, i would like to shoot that

RE: Bowtech Sniper or Ross Cardiac?

I don't know about the Bowtech Sniper, but I know first hand that the 2009 Cardiac 31 is a sweet bow to shoot. I just bought one back in September and I was kinda amazed how smooth the draw was and quiet the shoot was. My buddy stopped by for a visit and was even impressed. He didn't hear me down in the yard while I was shooting. Heactually didn't see me as well. I thought he would have heard it cause he always heard my old bow. When he came down and watched a few arrows fly he asked me what teh heck i was shooting.I showed him and he then started shooting it himself. He felt the same way about the bow as I did. He owns the Bowtech Tomkat and he found the Ross to be alot nicer at the draw. He also had a hard time coughing up the bow.LOL!

It draws very smooth and has adrawstop. On release, there is very little handshock if any. Coming from a Darton MaverickRecurve, this bow is a dream to shoot. The arrow speeds seemed to be around the same, plus thebrace height is alot higher. Very forgiving for a short axle to axle bow. The grip is very narrow and fit me well. I choose this bow over the Hoyt Katera. Although it was faster and almost as smooth at the draw, I could not let this little number go.

Finish, well it is built like a tank. It is approximately 3.9 lbs bare. As most bows are around that weight. The invelvet finish is nice and the craftmanship IMO is top notch. No complaints. After about 500 shots in two weeks I retuned the sucker and it was barely out.

When I came back to the Sandbox and shot the Darton again, I was so disapointed because the Ross spoiled me to death. I don't miss the Cam and a Half on my darton at all. Yeah she is fast, but not as cozy if you know what I mean.

My suggetion is to check out the deal on Gander Mountain online if you reallylike this bow. I could have sworn they were on sale. And if you can wait a while longer, shoot the Ross Carnivore. I keep hearing so many great things about the new Hybrid (Cam and a Half) design with the new Krank.

Finally, I would shoot the bows first though. Everyone has a different feel for bows in general. You might like the bowtech over theRoss, but shoot the Carnivore before you decide.

Respectfully,
Justin

If you think that a binary draw is smooth, go and shoot a 101st airborne or 82nd or any BT for that matter and then go shoot a mathews, or the ross for that matter. you will never think binary was smoothe again;)

the sniper replaced the tomkat i believe, and i love my tomkat... it performs with top of the line bows with a middle of the road price imo

I just bought a 09 sniper and I love it. I didnt like the acc. so I bought the bow only.I put a wisker bisket, viper sights, sts string stop and fuse stabilizer. Some archery shops will let you try then buy. I really like this set up.

drock--maybe you should talk about some of BT more popular bows like the Admiral, Captain, General, or heck even the new Destoyer--All are fantastic bows with super smooth draws.. And for you speed guys the Destroyer pulls great for type of bow that it is.. And yes if you are talking in terms of the new Z7 from mathews, I would agree because that is a sweet shooting bow.. However, the monster is everything but smooth--I would rather be kick in the balls but a mule then own that bow..

The sniper is a nice bow--but not my favorite of the BT line and I don't really care for the Ross line or Ross himself.. But you should stick with your price range and ACTUALLY shot the bows that are in that range.. Pick the one that fits you the best and that you are comfortable with the most!!
