Fletch falls off, camo with it.
My buddy recently bought a dozen Beamen ICS 340 Camo Hunter shafts. After
he fletched them up he tugged on one of the fletchings and it pulled right off and
took the camo film with it. He tried a few more and the same thing happened to
all of them. He is a veteran fletcher and does a real nice job on all of his arrows.
He used brand new adhesive made for carbons. Has anyone heard of this happening before? Is this common on camo shafts? Is there special glue that you
have to use on camo shafts only? Please help us out here, he' s freekin' out after
dropping $75 on shafts.

I purchased a dozen ics carbon arrows and had the same problem with the fletching coming off with the carbon. Send it back to beman, and had a gentlemen by the name of marty call me at home and said that they should have told me to sand them before i had them fletched. I informed them that I was never told this, and he took the attitude like their was nothing he could do. It cost me $32 to refletch them. I will never buy anything from beman again, they have lousy customer service.

no problem, just trying to help the fellow hunters out. Tell your buddy to try out GOLD TIP XT HARDWOODS, ended up costing me less money, better finish, and all-around better arrow. From what i understand, they have great customer service.

At the archery shop where I work, I am the person that does a large part of the fletching. To prepare an ICS Hunter Camo shaft for fletching this is what I do:
1. Wash the last 6 inches or so with comet.
2. Let that dry and then proceed to wipe down the back section with isopropyl alcohol
3. I then make sure not to touch the rear section of the shaft when placing it in a jig.
We most commonly use Fast Set Gel with AAE vanes. Simply apply a very fine bead and then apply pressure for a few seconds. I take my time and am still able to do an arrow every minute or two using this gluing method.
We' ve never had trouble with the camo coming off. In fact, trying to refletch these arrows can be a major pain. It seems almost impossible to get the darn things back off.
