i was watching pete crawford on Monster bucks and he was hangin in this cradle/sling kind of thing. im goin to school to be a linesworker so ive climbing gear and thought that thing would be really nice for those long days on the tree.

seems like your talking about the tree saddle. some folks swear by them

Back a bunch of years ago,I used to have something similar to that called anderson tree sling. All I needed to do was make sure my lineman climbers were secure and simply walk right up a tree then hook it over a crotch (trunk/limb). I'm wanting to check out this new version but now being disabled,I'm not sure I would have a very easy time of it. Now I'm almost totally cofined to use of climbing stands,ladder stands,and ground blinds when stand hunting.

so whats the deal with it? do you have to use spurs to climb with or what? i climb trees and trim them or top them with conventional climbing gear and always thought that might be a good way to hunt. that saddle looks pretty comfortable but didnt really see anything that stated how you got in and up the tree.

I use 4 LW sticks to climb the tree and either tree steps or 5 strap on steps rigged to a single ratchet strap for the "platform". Another Tree Saddle guy I know just uses tree steps for getting up the tree. I've heard of a few that use climbing spikes but not many.

Shooting out of the saddle came easy to me but it took much longer to be able to maneuver around the tree. Once you get the hang of it, it's a valuable weapon in the bowhunters arsenal.

my uncle is a linesman and he has just used his climbin gear and belt for bowhunting and has shot many nice deer. i know a guy who is gunna let me borrow his tree slingand try it out im thinkin its gunna be pretty slick
